Oh, I totes know I have the medical condition, but well, that's the thing, we as humans have medical conditions.

I also have an aversion to other ugly things though, like the spider hairs (they can grow to 0.5 inches long, sometimes longer) that afflicts all members of my gene pool that SPROUT from halfway down my shins to my ankles. It's a PITA to be so bad at shaving AND self-loathing, but let's face it, some hairy stuff is just unattractive, including my shins.

Fortunately SS coils ARE attractive especially when the get that lovely rose colored glow on them. Etc.

You know, way back when, BATHING was seen as unattractive, in the sense of like people lived and slept with tics and fleas on them and etc. That is also a medical condition "today."

I do believe, that like Anderson Cooper who is made 95% if not more of plastic, one can also take the cleansing of the Self a Bridge too Far and etc.

I would go even farther, and submit there is no way for the mod to determine the temp from the TCR curve, if there are multiple current paths through different gauges, heating at different rates. One could likely fiddle with TCR values, and approximate a useful number, but only for ONE specific coil, and only at one specific wattage.
Probably work fairly well for a simple twisted or parallel coil, as they would heat fairly uniformly.
Cannot expect the mod to know 15 different variables about your coil, when all it can do is measure voltage and current.
The best you could do is plot a curve specifically for that build. That's a first class PITA that only hardcore ECF'ers would undertake.

Oldish thread, but this is a DNA 75. It works great with 316L. The primary advantage of a DNA board for TC is the customization you can do. If things aren't working, hook it is to eScribe and run Device Monitor. No guessing or estimating. Straight data on what your coil is doing at the settings you chose. Adjust accordingly and I expect you will get 316L to work just fine.

Also, I use low resistance builds with contact coils in TC without much trouble on DNA boards. Other mods though and YMMV.

Device: SBODY C2D1 DNA 75.

I had been using lightning vapes T-1 wire for a while. Apparently they are having difficulty with keeping this wire in stock, so after some research, I decided to give SS316L a shot. After many different attempts and updated TCRs, I finally gave up. It was either too cold or burned through my wick - no happy medium. The real strange thing is that I never got a burned taste, but I would take my tank apart after a few hours of vaping (and poor vapor) to find that the wick was completely burned away in the coil. Even when the temp was set at 450, the vapor production was terrible and I would find the wick to be partially burned away at the same time. My experience with this wire was so bad that I actually wished I had my old EVOD back. If this was my first experience at vaping, I would still be smoking.

Anyway, the new spool of T-1 showed up last night and I am so happy again. IMHO, 316L is completely worthless for TC vaping.
I had the same problem with my h-cigar vt-75.
What I did was I updated the latest service pack via escribe, then downloaded a new and correctly calibrated (316L/lite) TFR from steam engine.erased the old 316.csv and Updated my mod profiles and.....walah
I’ve been vaping on it ever since.
Give it a try.

Try 26ga 316sst, spaced 5-8 wraps 2mm or any spaced .25-.60o, TCR 105-125, 360-410F.

If running and eleaf device recommended tcr of 92 will be too low. SS tcr feels like about 130, can run with 350-380F, try about 115 tcr at 390-410F.

Not surprising you’re burning your wick at 450f, cotton will burn at over 410F.

Thanks for clarifying. I don't want to have to go there twice! No offense to those who like Sally's. I'm just not the Sally's type.

I've been in there with my wife and once or twice by myself. I'd bet 9 out of 10 guys who darken a Sally's door are looking for Vape Rayon and the staff know that. I used to hang out at the Radio Shack a couple of doors down while she shopped, but they closed!

I probably need to vape in TC mode at least when I'm away from home. All my RTA's are coiled with SS316L. The other day I was with my wife at a Niece's birthday party in a local restaurant. Once we got there it was on the outside patio so I pulled out my Innokin Proton and vaped. Hot City! I got burned Rayon taste and was sure the wick was toasted. In my pocket it went from 10W to 180W. It vaped with a burned flavor for a while and finally recovered somewhat, but I changed the coil and wick when I got home. The next day I could sense a slight lung irritation from the small amount of burned vapor I inhaled.

The manual shows how to lock the fire button, but I haven't discovered how to lock settings so that they won't change in a pocket. It would be a pain to have to hit fire and the right joystick before and after every hit to lock and unlock the fire button.

Couldn't the settings change accidentally in TC mode too? I'm not quite following the reasoning here although I too have gone from 18 watts to 180 watts in my pocket and yes, it completely sucks.

That is my way of saying no, I have not figured out how to lock the settings either, plus "I feel your pain."

Also if you figure it out, post it. LOL.

Temp could change. If wattage changed in TC mode, temp control would shut down the coil, anyway. Being in power mode when I had the wattage soar it just vaped at 180W. TC would have immediately shut down the vape unless the temp button let it go to 600F.

Since that incident I'm looking at which mods will lock settings. I've never had that happen except with the Proton's joystick. Most of my mods have flat buttons with a strong enough spring tension that helps prevent wattage changing easily in a pocket.

I haven't seen mentioned anywhere in the thread, so I say it here... The amount of wick in the coil can change the regulation dramatically.
With a coil stuffed you need 25 W to achieve set temperature - an example. Just reducing a bit the amount of wick - I see the power reduced to half of that.
All of this, without drawing air.
My setups are all Ss316L on DNA or Dicodes.

I have to add, some of the 316L spools I received are in reality older 316 (not L), which has a lower sensitivity leading to excessive temperature and poor regulation. So it can be worth a try with 316 setting if your temp is excessive.
