Not much new stuff, pretty much a rehash of other articles.
Ecigs are targeting youth, formaldehyde and benzine in the vapor emissions.

too bad that so little is said about the benefits,

Seems like if they are willing to give addicts methadone
they ought to let nic addicts vape at their own expense.

I wish sometimes some of these holier than thou
reformers knew that it is like to addicted. They might
not be so quick to judge.

(btw I always get like this after I read one of these articles):(

I "liked" your post for finding this article, but certainly cannot "like" the article. First of all, it's one of those that don't allow for comments. Also, it quotes the Maine ALA rep spouting about "it's the wild wild West out there." And all the blather about flavors marketing to kids, ecig ads being the nefarious plot by BT, etc etc yadda yadda. On the plus side, it quotes an ecig vendor and several restaurant and bar owners who have no problem with vapers (glad to hear that!). So it get a :horizontal thumb: from me.

The article opens with:

Toby Simon had just dropped off her daughter at Thornton Academy in Saco when she noticed a white Kia Optima wrapped in an advertising banner for SmokeEnds e-cigarettes with the slogan “Your HABIT ... Made BETTER.” A tobacco policy specialist, Simon was perturbed by the car’s presence on campus. “I just kind of sat there for a while,” she said. “Then I got out and took a picture.”

An emailed version of that picture made its way to the headmaster’s office and then the Maine Attorney General’s Office, which determined that the 16-year-old driver of the car, which advertised a brand of e-cigarettes being imported and distributed by her family’s business, was not breaking any laws by parking it on campus.

Some boundary had been crossed, though, of both school policy and social protocol. The girl’s mother, Carrie Gorham, the founder of SmokeEnds, agreed that her daughter would park it off campus from now on. But the scenario typifies the gray area around e-cigarettes. In this tale of two mothers, Gorham sees them as the wave of the future and the lesser of two evils. Simon worries they represent another way for the tobacco industry to make a buck on nicotine addicts and find new, younger customers.

Simon = tobacco policy specialist. (So we know where this is going...)
Crossing a social protocol boundary? Another way of saying "we're scared ecig may "re-normalize" smoking"...
A tale of two mothers? Nope. A tale of an ecig vendor and an ANTZ.

Pfui.

bah.
They are addicted alright.
Addicted to sticking their noses into other people's business because their own little lives are - in all probability - so miserable and unimportant that they do not wish to even deal with them.
Addicted to putting others down to make their own miserable selves feel better.

They are addicted alright.
Rob them of people to hate and to look down upon - and they will have nothing. Nothing whatsoever. Then, they would have to face themselves. And that is what they avoid at all cost.

Oh yes, they are addicted alright.

"A tale of one mother and one dimwitted tyrant busybody who unfortunately managed to reproduce" just doesn't have the same ring to it.
