1) I ordered a USB passthrough... I'm a bit worried about hooking it to my computer. I'm thinking I should just redo my set up... leave off anything in one of the hubs... and use it sans computer.

2) Fruit flavored juice. I am horribly allergic to fruit. Are there any allergens IN the fruit flavors? It would be so awesome to vape a fruit flavor.. without the hives and asthma attack that goes with real fruit.

3) Exhaled nicotine... my daughter is jumping about and acting insane, because she THINKS there could be a vast cloud of nicotine around me.
I can't suit her, because I couldn't figure out how many PPM MIGHT be floating about.

4) My eldest son WANTS one... he quit smoking several months ago... however, he didn't WANT to quit... it was a decree from the wife.
Is this a suitable birthday present? Or will the wife kill me?
I can set him up with zero nic... he misses the puffing.

5) Flavors like chocolate... are they any good? Personally I detest chocolate, and couldn't try it to make the call. However, my mother is a BAD diabetic... She won't behave, and she LOVES chocolate. (She doesn't smoke... however, if a few puffs of chocolate would solve the blood sugar problem... it must be BETTER than eating them.)

TIA,

Katt

1. does your passthru have a battery inline? (ie - it looks just like the battery but with a wire going thru the led part) if so - i wouldn't be too worried. if not you might want to get one that does. (burnt out atomizers, etc)

2. the only way to be sure is to email whatever supplier you want to order from and simply ask them if the flavoring is artificial or natural. i don't know much about fruit allergies but i would think that artificial flavoring should not cause a problem.

3. been wondering that myself  :D

4. get him one!! bump what his wife thinks!

5. i personally LOVE chocolate flavors.. the kind i got from e-smokeytreats tasted like a cocoa bean or maybe some dark chocolate. the carts i got from smoking everywhere tasted like a hershey bar. and the johnson creek flavor i am vaping as i type this is well.. just good. the only thing i have noticed about chocolate flavors is they seem to like to clog up the atomizer on my 901. no ill effect on my 4081 though.

hope this was helpful.. good luck!

In regards to the exhaled nicotine amount.

98% of the nicotine you inhale is absorbed, the remaining 2% dissipates quickly. There was a study done by a New Zealand lab that exhaustively went over all of the compounds found in both the inhaled, and the exhaled vapors.

If you do a quick search for my other posts, I have the link to the NZ study on one of them, too lazy to look it up myself right this second.

Hi all.

I'm new and not allowed to start a new thread. My apologies to Kathy9225 for adding on to her thread but I thought the topic title was appropriate for me. <g>

Before making an e-cig purchase I tried to research as diligently as possible. Unfortunately, I found this forum *after* making the purchase. I did find an independent evaluation that didn't steer me completely wrong, though. I read that there were only a handful of manufacturers (seemingly all Chinese) and that the "American" brands were simply re-packaged and sold at a much higher price. The undated study informed me that the Super e-cigarette mini was the most popular of e-cigs, specifically the RN4081. Armed with that information I went a-shopping. I found what I thought (and still believe) was a good buy. I bought the RN4081 kit, plus an extra atty and 50 cartridges for $90. In essence, I have two complete super e-cigs minis and a cache of carts. I'm not sure if the forum rules allow me to mention the name of the supplier, so I'm leaving it out for now.

That said, and having the e-cig for only a few days, I have some questions...

I'm not dissatisfied with the super mini but I'm wondering if I'm missing anything by not having, say, a 901 which most of you guys/gals seem to like.

Can I *re-juice* a super mini cart? I really haven't seen this question posed here.

Does the nicotine content directly affect the throat hit?

It seems that the quality control of the carts varies greatly. I had a cart last 12 hours and one that lasted an hour. Is that due to the liquid seeping out? Also, the carts in the kit itself seemed weak while the separate package of 50 are much stronger. (me likey the latter, lol)

I'm presently on vacation as I try to get used to vaping. (I'm not having the flavor issues that some seem to have, btw. I'm satisfied with the "marlboro" taste) But, once I'm back to work, I'm fearing that a battery will go bad, an atty will go bad, something will go wrong and I'll be grubbing an analog from somebody. I thought if I set myself up the night before with two working/charged minis and a couple of spare carts I should be good to go. Does that sound right? If I need a spare battery and/or atty should I commit further to the RN4081 or buy a completely different e-cig?

Also, I've read that the e-cig should be placed horizontally when not in use. (fluid seeping, I take it) I'd like to mimic having my e-cigs in my top pocket, vertically, like I've carried my analogs for years. So, do I point the LED up or down? I suppose I should purchase one of those cigarette carry cases too? The ones that look like they would come out of Ward Cleaver's breast pocket? I'm not sure I have enough class for that. LOL

I appreciate the responses one and all. Attempting to read those Chinese to English translations gives me headaches. From those translations, it took a while before I realized that a "mouthful" meant a "drag". =)

Sorry for the length of the post and thanks again.

Richie

I'll just address the chocolate....as I'm a chocoholic..

My current favorite is a mix of chocolate and coconut (I'm vapin a mounds bar!!) from Vapor4Life. Also excellent is AlternaSmokes Milk Chocolate - this one's really smooth and subtle...Third on the list is Janty's chocolate juice - good, satisfying flavor. I've tried the chocolates from JC, and they weren't quite as good - the choco almond was a bit too much almond and not enough chocolate, and the mint chocolate was the same.....more minty, with a hint of chocolate.

But satisfying? Absolutely....

No, you're not missing anything from not having a 901. I do suggest a 510 though (Janty Dura C, TECC Titan, Yeti) with the manual switch batteries (or auto if you prefer) it provides a LOT more vapor than a super mini and the throat hit is amazing.

It seems that the quality control of the carts varies greatly. I had a cart last 12 hours and one that lasted an hour. Is that due to the liquid seeping out? Also, the carts in the kit itself seemed weak while the separate package of 50 are much stronger. (me likey the latter, lol)

That's why I prefer to buy juice instead of a ton of carts, ends up being cheaper and if there isn't enough you can just add more.

Bring your charger to work with you just in case and alternate, one would probably be done charging when the other dies and I haven't had an issue yet and with the atomizer, you might want to get some spares. Actually, you might want to get spares of everything if the 4081 is where you want to stay, I still suggest trying out that 510 :D

That's all I got for ya :)

hi ritchie, yes you can rejuice a super mini, take a bent paperclip and poke it through the
tiny hole on the mouthpiece, a little white plastic "cup" will pop up, you can add a few drops of an aftermarket e-liquid to it and you're good to go.
It is best to store your device led up to avoid liquid draining down into your battery and gumming up the works. Give your 4081 a couple of weeks before you move on to another model and abandon your investment, but you might invest in another battery. I've got 2 4081's and they still work great, although now I just use them for dripping-the art of dropping a couple drops of juice directly on the atomizer, and I really mean just a couple drops, it's good for maybe 5-8 good drags.
Throat hit is in the eye of the beholder, means different things to different people, but usually the higher nic juice will have a greater throat reaction.
hope any of this helps, stick with it, and don't beat yourself up if you have a regular cig, it won't be the end of the world.

1. Nothing wrong with using a USB passthrough.
2. I wouldn't test your fruit allergy just in case.
3. The nicotine is mostly absorbed by the body, your daughter should be fine.
4. I also wouldn't recommend your son get back into smoking, even with 0 nicotine, lots of times it's a psychological thing. If he's quit, let him be. Esp. if stuff gets banned, he'd be hooked to vaping and what if there's no supply? He might turn back to analogs.
5. Vaping dessert flavors that I've mixed myself does help with my sugar cravings, don't know why. :)

Note that “98% nicotine absorption” had been determined for combustion cigarette smoke. In his preliminary report, Laugesen (Health NZ) simply assumed that it could be just the same for e-cig vapor. However, the same study group recently reported [thread=15034] first data on blood nicotine levels [/thread]. These new results indicate that uptake of nicotine is far less effective than had been previously anticipated. Bottom line, the “98% absorption” figure does not necessarily hold true for vaping. As yet, no one knows the fraction of nicotine present in “second hand vape”.

But, according to doctors, nicotine is a mild stimulant much like caffeine. I would imagine as a child can become addicted to drinking soda, much can be said about nicotine (perhaps on a faster curve). But there would be nothing associated to your child inhaling nicotine without any actions to be addicted. They might become attracted to the smell of your vapor and being around you, but no harmful actions like associating analogs to nicotine like most of us are. My best guesstimate.
