Well, here's a pic. of my VVGrand with an RM2 with 1.6 Ohm, 30 Kan wire and firing at about 3.8 volts. Works very nice with cotton wick, when the wick is in it of course.

The left post, though, is skewed enough that I have difficulty aligning the coil close to the squonk hole and such. I tried rotating it counter-clockwise back with as stout a needle that I could find that fit the wire hole, but all I did was bend the needle. Should I use pliers? I do have a 24 inch pipe wrench(kidding).

What's to do. Thanks.

I know they're threaded, so I would think that you won't hurt it with more pressure if you're turning it counter-clockwise. Will a little screwdriver fit in there....or maybe a syringe needle? Something even more stout than the needle you used.... I don't want to be responsible for your breaking it....but I know for sure they're threaded and you'd be unscrewing it a tiny bit, so can't think it'd hurt. Get out the pipe wrench.

Yep, the pipe wrench and a bigger hammer. lol.

Somewhere I'll find my 18 and 19 ga. needles and give those a try if they'll fit the post holes that is. My 16 ga. blunt needles are too big a diameter.

That failing I'll try the pliers. Just don't want to bust the ceramic base material. Thanks for replying.

Good luck. Maybe a tiny little drill bit? Guys have tools. Or....a big paper clip? Or....hmmm....you'd think we could figure out something strong that would fit through those holes...

Give it a whirl with a pair of needle nose pliers. If you're concerned about marring the post, a wrap of electrical tape on the post or pliers will keep thinks nice and clean.

One post on both of my RM2s is crooked. I don't find it to be a problem. As long as I keep whatever the coil was wrapped around (usually a syringe needle) inside the coil during setup, it ends up a handsome work of art. Some convincing with needle-nose pliers is all that's required.

Checkin' in on the post thingey this mornin.

Well, I got out 2 pair of my needle nosed pliers and went after the negative shorter post on the thing. I would guess I rotated the post 15-20 degrees maybe to get the wire hole pointing just to the left of the squonk hole. I previously removed the old coil very carefully. Anyway having rotated the post counter-clockwise to the better position, I was actually able to get the old coil back on both posts again and the darned thing actually works ok, same Ohms too, kinda surprized it worked actually. But here's the bit, when I tightened the screw on the negative(left short post) the entire post wanted to rotate clockwise back to the previous position where the alignment was out. Soooooo, I held the post in the better position with needle nosed pliers and tightened the little screw with my screwdriver to hold the better alignment, so's to not distort the coil. Crazy thing is working really good much to my surprize, seeing as how I was able to re-use the old coil. I was just curious if it could be done.

I realize my explanation is about as clear as mud. Oh well. It works.

Gotta run up to the shoulder surgeon now, he removed some old shrap fragments 2 weeks ago and re-did a couple of pins and a rod in my shoulder. Seems to work ok, right hand and wrist go numb and tingly sometimes though. Not to worry.

ciao bene.

I unscrewed the negative post and dropped a small grain of AO (aluminum oxide from cutting up a porous ceramic block) in the bottom of the hole then replaced the post. It allowed it to stay about 15 degrees from full rotation so it lines up where I want it and doesn't turn when I tighten the screw down.

Would think about anything really small and non toxic would work.

Nice looking reo, S.

Be careful if you decide to try to crank the post around (clockwise). I tried that once and the whole ceramic base turned. Good advice from Mundy.

that must have been the positive post, it screws into a metal plate on the bottom of the ceramic cup, but the negative post goes all the way through the cup to the base (outside) metal of the atty.
