Hi,

I have an E-Power 14650 and I really like it. It uses the non-proprietarty 14650 batteries. I have the two stock ones that the unit came with and I recently got an AV IMR 14650 "High-Drain" Battery from Avid Vaper. I normally just cycle thru the 3 batteries and have been doing that for a few weeks with no problems. I have been using the High-Drain for the last day and the switch just did the normal blink that the battery was dead and needed to be charged. So I unscrewed the switch and when I did I notiiced the bottom of the switch where the battery touches was kinda brown and had so kind ofliquid on it. The top of the battery was all wet also. I havent gotten it wet at all and it hasnt been around any water. I smelled it and the entire battery and switch and tube where the liquid is all smell very strongly like rubbing alcohol. The battery is normally red and I noticed that near the top when it meets the switch was kind of orangish and faded. Also the marking on the battery where it says "IMR 14650 900mah" has been smeared slightly

Does anyone have any idea what the heck that is or what happened??!? Im afraid to put it on the charger now, Im afraid it might blow up or catch on fire or something. I feel like the liquid that smelled like rubbing alcohol must have come out of the batter bc I cant think of any other explanation of where it came from.

Does anyone know what that is or how that could have happened? Also what should I do? Why would it leak like that?

Any help from any veterans would be MUCH MUCH appreciated! Someone pleasee try to give me an answer ASAP!

Thanks!
Rob

that doesnt sound too good or smell good either! if it were me (i am a risk taker!) i would stick the battery in the charger with my hand on the cord to pull it out if there is a problem. but that is just me. probably better to just toss that battery and order some new ones. i have some IMR's and havent been too impressed with them, despite all the good things i read about them. i didnt get them from avid vaper tho. i really like the trustfires that madvapes carries and they are relatively cheap. unfortunately i was a little too rough with mine and they both "broke" inside the battery. i guess they are more fragile than the ones that come with the e-power. still using my same 4 that came with my two sets. been about 6 months of rotation. good luck!

I have no idea what the stuff is!!

Some of it was inside the tube and went thru the little hole at the bottom and actually started to take the rubberized black finish off the tube!!

This stuff had to have came from the battery. It seems like its no joke. I got alittle on my finger and washed it immediately

Sounds like your batt vented .Maybe from over discharge . Remember IMR's dont have any protection so you dont want to discharge too far . I would never let a battery go dead before charging . My rule of thumb is to never let it go under 3v . Below that is drops off fast and can cause venting or explosion like you mentioned .I would toss that batt away . Safety is better then 8 bucks for a new one .

When a battery vents does liquid come out of it? And does it smell like rubbing alcohol and take off finishes?

I was using a HH.357 2.0ohm atomizer for a very short period of time right before it died. Could that have anything to do with it? I normally use the CCV LR 1.7ohm "Ressuretor" Cartos
