I was just being a curmudgeon ... whatever floats your boat ... go fer it.

Worth noting that I never could stick to roll-your-own cigs, back when I smoked cigs. No amount of money was worth that trouble.

A day later

Oh I get it.

Sulks off into the corner, head down, shoulders hunched over, slightly drooling.

Yummy, OR loose wintergreen.

Looks up the word curmudgeon.

curmudgeon |kərˈməjən|
noun
a bad-tempered or surly person.
DERIVATIVES
curmudgeonliness noun
curmudgeonly adjective
ORIGIN late 16th cent.: of unknown origin.

My only excuse is we've been having Florida like weather up here in the land of cheese and I've gone a bit brain-dead.

Drools a bit more.

Yumm

I did ryo for the last year and a half that I smoked. It wasn't about the money, but the TASTE. Until you have tried any of the D & R Virginias (Windsail=British Virginia and Penhooker=Canadian Virginia) and most especially blended with REAL Turkish (Ramback, although I preferred either of the above Virginias at 75% blend with the Turkish), you could never understand the REAL reason for ryo.

Although, I must admit I received some baccy in today's mail on trade in one package (Windsail Silver, Bali Shag Red & Two Timer, which is a double toasted burley), and also received a 3 ml aluminum Icetool in the mail as well. I threw the baccy aside as I ran to the fridge with my Icetool to dig out that can of Roda Lacket. I have yet to smoke any of the baccys, even though the Windsail and Bali Shag red were two of my faves.

sheilalynn, you ROCK! I LOVE your diy attitude and your ideas point me in directions I never would have considered. I am sure I will try the cheesecloth thingy at some point.

Awww, thanks...now me's blushing, see? hehe Just must be the "what if I....." mentality here, I dunno!

I actually looked at one of those little single layer squares of that same cheesecloth and went "hmmmm" and rolled one up, folded over, and it worked great as stuffing in my e-cig cart too :p

The last time I ordered 10 cans/tins from getsnus, I also purchased a loose snus plastic compaction toll for $2.00. I use in combo with cheese cloth, coffee filter, or tea bag. This way I can make different size pouches-discreet versus bulging cheek.

Works for me, maybe useful for others.

That's what I did too...used the $2 prismaster as a measuring tool more than anything else before I wrapped it up. :) I do now have an icetool, but still prefer to wrap the pris made with that up too!

What are the advantages of the icetool over the cheapy plastic tool?

The icetool just seems to make a more compact pris than the prismaster does. And it's round instead of oval. If you make smaller pris like I do, then the prismaster may work better since you can make a nice thin flat oval that actually fits pretty nicely with less of a bulge.

I wouldn't have gotten my icetool if I hadn't made a little "backdoor unadvertised one-time deal" with one of the online shops that I'd bought several cans from in the past. But now that I do have it, I have to agree with the people who swear by it.

I do still use those little cheesecloth squares to wrap it up before I put it in my mouth, but that's more for easier removal. I tried a couple of pris made with the icetool without wrapping them up first, and they do seem to stay together longer than a pris made with a prismaster.

So I'd say if you're going to wrap them up, then either will work fine. But if you want to use just the pris without wrapping it, the icetool will definitely make things a little less messy.

I LOVE the Icetool myself, even as I wonder if the FDA might decide it is a 'drug' delivery device. I am getting to the point with an Icetool created pris, that I can keep the pris in for far longer periods of time, without experiencing a mudslide, even as I drink coffee. That has me VERY excited, because I really want to make the switch now to los, so that I am well adjusted to it by the time my baccy harvest (such as it is) is ready.

Meant to get back to you on this as I was a long time RYO user. About the last 12 years. Started out with Drum, then moved on to Bali Shag Red and White. The last three years or abouts it was mostly Peter Stokkebye. I did them all, with my favorites being Danish export, Turkish export, Stockholm Blend, and Norwegian Shag. Your right, it's all about taste. After a few years on RYO I couldn't even smoke a regular cigarette. It tasted like a mouthful of chemicals.

Not sure if using high quality tobacco made it easier or harder to quit. Fortunately RYO tobacco in general is a good deal purer then,,, the other stuff. I had no problem at all making the switch to snus. No physical cravings. Just a few physiological things to work through.

It was the taste of that high quality tobacco I missed. After about 2 months off analogs I was getting very tempted to buy a few small tins of Stokkebye. Something in the taste I couldn't find in snus. I tried some of the pure tobacco flavored snus and that did the trick. If you're a RYO user who misses that pure high end tobacco flavor there is three snuses I can recommend. Ettan, Grovsnus and Gotlandssnus Yellow. I have only tried them in loose so you're on your own if you insist on portions. I know Ettan is not recommended in the portion version. There are a few other tobacco flavored ones out there but I haven't tried them as of yet.

All three of the above are great if you have a taste for the pure tobacco flavor. Very reminiscent of the best of the RYO stuff. The irony is that I roll me own portions.

The more things change. . .
