Only if you wanted to allow this, have them bring their own evidence that they complied with whatever the adjusted rules are. If for instance they have to have posted on PVT prior to turning, then it is up to them to create a post (or send whoever a PM) saying "I'd like to be included. I met the new criteria here [insert hyper-links]").
(Similar to the Treasure Chest thread in PIF -- the members have to say when they last took a TC (the evidence), it isn't the mods' job to go looking for the last TC taken.)
atty, if the majority wants everybody eligible for both we don't have to worry about anything else. can we get this decided?

how it works now....
1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. to get a thread, all that is needed is to ask for one or have an ecf vet start it in the new vets forum prior to turning. (In practice it has always come through PVT. )
2. avatar party- must request and be present on the PVT thread at the exact time that they joined, any deviations from the original timing results in disqualification from the entry for the grand prize.
Options for what we want
1. welcome thread - entitles the prevet to an entry in the monthly contests. Eligible threads will be in the new vets forum prior to turning. The welcome thread request comes through PVT, in the form of 1 post minimum in PVT
a. choose between 'prior to' turning or 'within 24 hours of' turning
b. choose can or cannot be self-started
2. Options for Avatar parties:
A. Not required for entry into prize drawing
B. Required for entry into prize drawing, time can be scheduled without penalty
a. choose between must be present on the PVT thread at the time of turning, or must be present within 15 minutes of time of turning
b. choose between exceptions can be made and exceptions cannot be made if circumstances warrant I.e. military service, illness, emergency, internet problems
C. Anybody with either a welcome thread or avi party who is present at the fireworks is eligible for the grand prize drawing (to clarify: time can be scheduled without penalty)

and don't underestimate j0ker - from his post he is well aware of what we do. that was his reason for getting involved with this to begin with.
i really don't think he needs samples of welcome threads, etc
maybe we can cut to the chase
1. do we favor flexible turning times and attendance requirement or
2. just declare everybody eligible for monthly and grand? <<<<< for this option i want everybody to reflect how many we have already turned down since january ......
maybe if we get a consensus on this we can get move on
(same as options, A, B or C from this morning)
can we give the left coast people time to wake up and drink their coffee?
do you really think those we turned down are still watching? they figured they lost their chance and went their way. that's why my preference always has been for ''tweaking'' and not a complete overhaul in midyear

Yes. Which is why "My vote #1" still has the prior to turning requirement....for the Monthly. And it is then tied to pre-vets. I suppose someone could create a welcome thread externally, but how do we verify it (or is it only jj and j0ker that care?) if they show as "turned" by the time we see it. See my post above with a possible fraud example.
Alrighty guys I am back in the discussion.....and my only intent is to be helpful. That is the stone where I first stepped on and it is the one I remain on. Just trying to help.
So, let me see if I have this correctly..........no, never mind. Let me just say this in my own way, even though I believe it is kind of what you guys are talking about....
What about if we remove "our" parties from the contest altogether. If a person has gone thru everything to remain a vapor and not on cigarettes and hung around with all of us.....meaning ecf, shouldn't they qualify for the big contest just under that merit? Aren't we awesome enough that people (most, some) would come to the thread and let us set up a party for them to celebrate this "rite of passage"? And, if the only reason they are showing up and watching us jump through hoops is to be eligible for a contest, does that make me want to go out of my way....to do anything extra for them? How does it make you feel? Wouldn't it be more fun to have people come and be with us just because we are awesome and loving and caring and want to do something nice for them?
Well, you say that is pretty kiss. Just remove the contest PERIOD for Pre-vets. Yeps, I think so. At least that is the way it is looking so far. What do you guys say?

Do you mean "all people that turn veteran in 2012... PVT or no PVT" or "no restrictions beyond the monthly contest restrictions"?

I am not sure why I quoted you Atty. Your post was where I was when the music in the musical chairs stopped. All of you were talking about something similar. I certainly wasn't picking on you. I love you guys... why are you always upset? And yes, I will go see above now.

i meant ces' point of everybody will be entered into the monthly and grand prize drawing or not. if we clear that up first then we can work on the relevant details .......
