No no no no. The v2 Locking Ring is nothing compared to the v1. It feels and looks cheaper.

I suspect you have a polished V2 compression ring from the early units that went out and I agree they look cheaper (they aren't, it's just the finish on them) but V2 compression rings are not all the same finish/look. Lately, we stopped polishing them and they look better IMO. All V2 ring construction, regardless of finish though, is beefier then the V1 as it's about ten thousandths thicker then V1, plus has the increased compression band size for better holding power and conductivity.

I'm talking about the actual outer ring. I have the v1 knurled version which I like much better than the v2 slants. There is just something about the knurled version that denotes quality and fine tooling.

I want knurled accent rings for the top and bottom. To me its one of the ELA's coolest features.

Let's get to the bottom of this.
Bottom line for me without all of this obsessiveness is that version 2 is better. It performs better, the lock is more positive and sturdier. The knurling, yeah. It takes some getting used to. Few things if anything else on earth have single knurledness.
What Snork said... :thumb: Satin ELA V2+ V1 510 Top Cap+ Satin V2 Flat Bottom Switch+ Rhodium Contacts ( I had a spare set)..

You be the judge..

Speaking of bands don't forget us parts collectors... Extra ELA V2 compression bands...;)

Well, you haven't steered me in the wrong direction yet. If you don't think the adjustable draw cap is necessary, I might as well look into the latest version of the ELA. New level of performance. I like the sound of that! Maybe David will let me try before I buy.:D
Thanks for your advice and comments.
:)
I think LadyMama gets a freebie IMO :)
Take it LadyMaMa, you wouldn't want to hurt David's feelings...;)

All orders through July 29th have shipped and we are working on orders from July 30th to present, including yours, so your order should ship before the end of the week. The current wait time on new ELA orders will be down to 2-3 business days by the end of the week as we are just about completely caught up.
You are my favorite person right now.

Diamond cut knurled rings.... Future accessories?
Now to be fair... Yes the diamond cut is sweet with its industrial look, but the new locking ring is anything but cheap looking.. Like I said before it actually gives the ELA V2 a cleaner look IMO :2c:

Increased compression and brass material makes v2 blow clouds. Can't wait for my 650 Stacy Bruce tube inbound. Satin flat bottom/22 mm slant cap in bound. Going to be rocking my satin ela v2 this year at ecc in Ontario ca. Super t will be represented proudly!

I will be representing the satin ela fan club at ecc as well.

Dave, I am seriously impressed with the products your releasing that the public wants like the flat switches and non slotted slant caps. I'm glad that you realize that people want choices. With that said, would it be possible to make up some non ribbed bottom accents? I don't know the process but maybe it would be easier since you don't have to rib them?

So you just want the bottom screw on accent ring smooth like the top extension tube one? Sure, we can do that. We were machining some knurled ones tomorrow so it's easy to do some smooth ones too.

Check out the new "Workman Grade" ELA v2! I would have been all over this -- perfect for someone who doesn't want to worry about banging up a nice finish, or for someone like me who likes to refinish everything :)

I just saw that tonight on the site. That's pretty kick ...!
