Hi all! New to the forums and a new Vaper of only 3 weeks. Found V4L on my second vendor try and am happy as a clam. Haven't had an analog in over 2 weeks.

I started with the USB PT and within days ordered the XL Manual Starter kit. I love the battery life and the quality of the vapor and hit as compared to my analog. Not bad considering I smoked for 40 years! :)

I am a bit perplexed though about the pre-filled Wow cart's I am/have been using. I am retired so I want to maximize my dollars spent. Not critical at this point though since I am way ahead of what I would have spent on analogs by now. I'm thinking long term.

I am getting 85-90 aprrox 2 second pulls per cart before it starts tasting like I am sucking on a flaming plastic soda straw. Is this a "normal" hit range for a prefill or peculiar to the Wow since it does atomize to a warmer temp (and use more juice)? Even when the taste turns to ...., I am still getting good vapor.

I do have dexterity issues due to an old spinal injury so I am not sure if dripping is a realistic option for me. Any feedback is appreciated and glad to be a member of the ECF V4L family!

Welcome Major !! You made mention of dexterity issues. I have nerve damage due to botched up carpal tunnel surgeries in both wrists. I don't have the movement I once had either. I don't know the extent of yours but, I can tell you that I DO drip and refill without any trouble. So you might consider trying it. It will save you money that way. Anyway you choose to do this, I'm happy for you that you're vaping instead of the stinkies !! Enjoy !

Welcome Major. Be sure to sign up for the mailing list, in order to get in on all of the sales. Also, while cleaning your used carts is recommended, it is not necessary. If you refill with the same flavor, you should be able to extend the life of your carts significantly. As long as you don't let them dry out and burn, you can re-use them for quite awhile. And the PT does goe thru them faster than the batteries, so keep that in mind. As the others have said, refilling is very easy, and it does save you quite a bit of $$$$$. ;-)

Hiya MajorS and Welcome! Congrats on getting rid of the cigarettes!

You may want to get a Diamond XL battery now. Great draw. They work on the same chargers too.

If you like the prefilled cartos you can get the matching juice (save the cartos you don't burn) and then refill them to maximize your dollars. The drip tip make it easier to pop off the top & put a few drops in. I'll drip into a prefilled once or twice and toss it into a box. The blanks seem to last even longer, have a "purer" flavor and seem to refill better. You can further maximize your money by cleaning the cartos and refilling them again. If you have dexterity issues then it may be more hassle than it's worth though. You still save money by not smoking.

As your taste buds grow back you'll be better able to detect a change in the flavor and vapor when it's time to put the carto aside before it's burnt. I've found that the carto lasts about as long as the XL battery.

My Brother-in-Law is in the local VA nursing home, vaping everywhere, but has major dexterity issues. I had given him manual batteries and then gave him a Diamond XL battery. He's hooked on the Diamond battery (it's automatic) and he doesn't refill. It works for him.

Congratulations on quitting, this is great isn't it? I'm 2 weeks in myself. I also use a PT and tend to go through the carts quite quickly. Also, like you, i get great vapor all the way through and by the time I notice a change, it is already burned. I have tried refilling cartos that are only a little bit burned and to be honest, it was really really bad. I have learned how to clean them and the only way I have rescued them from burning is to remove the rubber cap and actually visually verify that they are not dried out. I am hoping that as my taste buds recover that I will be able to notice a change in taste in the future.
As for your dexterity issues: If it is any reassurance, I am an occupational therapist and I give you permission to stick with prefilled carts :) because after all, you are still saving money. You do not want this to turn into a 'chore'. The important thing is that you are not smoking stinky sticks! Go ahead and try the different batteries and some empty carts just to see if that helps the problem though.
    Congratulations and rock on!
