Hersch and leathermonkey7, it's all about taxes and protecting BP and BT. They have been informed over and over again, about how e-cigarettes are safer than analogs and how they have helped many people to cut down or stop smoking cigarettes. It's all fallen on deaf ears.

They have their agenda and we are in the way of them achieving it.

Aye, lets hope the FDA can be more flexible. I don't want my new love ruined because someone wants to either abolish or control something else, or create another crappy sin-tax. Not that vaping is a sin. If you were to say:

"Smoking is the devil."
then
"Vaping is the angel."

I don't want to be associated with BP or BT. Can't we just remain an independant movement and enjoy vaping? Please...?

Ok, I've done an exceptional amount of reading in the whole FDA fight in progress....:confused:

I'm not the most educated in the world, but.... lets simplify this and hit a point quickly....

First off, I've only been off analogs for 2.5 days now. The moment I got my PV I was happy to stick strickly with it.

* smoking cigarettes slows you down, smells bad on everything, stains, has a second hand smoke that offends AND can cause problems to others, makes you more tired, fatigued, keeps you addicted to not only nicotine, but countless other EXTREMELY harmful chemicals..and its legal and approved, aside the indoor smoking ban, but that's where approved nicoderm and various other "approved" help quit devices WITH nicotine come back in... A step down program to help you quit *IF* you choose to step down, otherwise by ALL MEANS keep on buying our gum, our patch, it is nothing more than a "subscription" to nicotine (I say it this way because it's a guaranteed consistent income for the big boys..)

* Vaping PV's is relaxing, doesn't slow you down, is calming, doesn't have a nasty smell or taste, doesn't stain your fingers, doesn't leave an offensive aroma, the blown out vapor at this known point is basically harmless, can keep you addicted to nicotine-but without the EXTREME list of other chemicals, and the FDA wants to lock it down....

I'm sure I missed a few things, but I'm angry now... I find something that allows me to keep my nicotine in check if I need it, otherwise I PACIFY myself with 0 nicotine and just vape for flavor. It's a recreational hobby, past time, whatever you'd care to call it. And they want to take it away, when I just found it?

Can you believe that after only 2.5 days of being analog free I'm actually SCARED to be stuck with going back?

What in the sam dickens are these people thinking? I don't give a good .......n about their money. *shakes a fist* Give us some g'damn freedom here.

If I died tomorrow I wouldn't hate any PV companies, or Tobacco companies. I did what I did by choice, I'm not amped up on some screwball drugs. I am not impaired, I can function, just as ALL of us vapers can. I swear they act like we're all a bunch of junkies, WTF about cigarettes??? If you consider what's in them you might as well lump the damn things with heroine...*sigh*:evil::grr:

I'm going to find my mint.. I need to go relax :(

Drummel: One thing offhand that you forgot on the downside of cigarettes, fire hazard. I damn near killed myself 20 years ago by falling asleep with a cigarette in my hand. I mean, it was really close ... woke up in a dark room surrounded by smoldering mattress, which I picked up and dragged down a flight of stairs into the yard, burning and cutting myself in the process. I then went back upstairs to check for embers and passed out, not once but several times, from smoke inhalation. Very lucky to be alive after that. I NEVER smoked in bed again, after that.

And yet, that didn't stop me from smoking.

Vaping did.

Whatever movements there are to discourage vaping have nothing to do with health concerns.

I have been very lucky so far, everyone I know thinks it is a good thing and chance for smokers to quit analog cigs and live healthier lives. :)
Many people I know are trying to get their family members or friends to start the e-cig.

Non-smoker for over 4 months :D

Same, everyone agrees what im doing right now is an awful lot better and none have complained. Then again... i was pretty clear to begin with while i was on analogs that i wouldnt take any crap from anyone on it since i was extremely considerate of others and would never smoke in a non-smoker's home even if allowed to.

I know some will think i'm just stupid for thinking that way but one of the reason i did not stop before i started vaping is because to an extent, i fought to be accepted as a smoker and felt if i stopped smoking, i'd somehow end up on the "other team". The team with the old lady looking at me as if she could get cancer from looking at me when i used to smoke outside my workplace, clearing the legal door distance and all. I know it's kind of weird but hey, i'm just a rebel that way :p

I'm sad to say that if vaping ends up banned...i'll be an outlaw cuz theres no way im going back to analogs :)

I'm really worried about the ways those who advocate a ban will distort the issues (having watched this play out on the 2nd-hand smoke issue). Forgive what may seem like paranoia, but increasingly I've noticed that anti-smokING attitudes have taken more of an anti-smokER turn. We (meaning, those who have ever had tobacco habits) have become a rather low card in society's deck, and I fear that the portrayal of vaping will be mis-portrayed as a new means of drug delivery, rather than a means of of quitting smoking. (And watch for somebody to trot out the "Think of the children!" argument.)

But I hope I'm wrong.

In short, our "Personal Freedoms" are at a very large risk here folks... Our governments have always wanted to control those things that they feel that we are not responsible enough as a "People" to take responsibility for ourselves.

For discussion purposes, let us take another example, the War on Drugs. For myself, as a retired Coasty (U.S. Coast Guard) and retired deputy sheriff, I have seen the many of the taxpayers dollar spent to combat this war. On the same hand, I have seen at least twice as much drug money spent to fight from the other side. So where is ANY "return on investment" (ROI) for any of the taxpayers monies?

Please do not get me wrong... I do NOT advocate for drug use! I have just made some personal observations from years of law enforcement. Of course, if our governments decided to make all drugs legal and revised our judicial system to make the crimes committed fit the punishments we probably would not have any issues. Furthermore, if drugs were legal, of course our government could tax the crap out of them like they do everything else -- just think of the influx of monies to the United States!

Paul B - it has already started. They are saying we are selling poison (nicotine) unregulated that can get in the hands of children. Also, the flavors are tempting kids to want to vape.

They already banned Clove and flavored cigarettes - they're off the shelves in US of A the country of freedom and rights - Grrrr. Dwindling away as we write.

I thought that by having a smoking President would lighten up the pressure on us smokers/now vaporers. But it seems to be getting worse. If I find out the politicians in my State that are FOR banning, they won't get my vote. Not to get political here but just saying...

:::taking a deep breath::: rant over. :nun:
