Ploom Model One is a butane-powered e-cigarette which vaporizes powdered tobacco blends and non-tobacco tea and mint blends in pre-filled single-serving aluminum Ploom Pods. I considered these before I decided to use the eGo with liquids.

Sounds like vaping with a Kuerig

I read through the whole post and there are alot of thoughts here. I think the use of nicotine in moderation is okay.. I never chain smoked cigarettes, but I have used ecig to replace chewing. This happened to help because it gave me my nicotine I wanted, but also gave me the enjoyment of smoking. I can understand why someone would want to pick up a ecig, this forum shows all these amazing devices and great people. I wouldn't advice someone to use nicotine but if they are going to then ecigs are better than combusted smoke. Remember most good things are bad if not used in moderation.

Wow. I did not expect 6 pages of replies.

Firstly, thank you to everyone whom replied.

Secondly, I apologize to everyone whom I offended. I recognize that you are battling a dangerous addiction and did not realize my post would hit a tender spot. My comment about the nicotine was careless. I was mostly referring to the fact that nicotine is an antidepressant in low doses and I was probably getting pleasure from that benefit.

Thirdly, thank you to everyone whom expressed concern for my health. I appreciate it. My mother and father are lifelong smokers, and my father quit before he had any health concerns.

And fourthly, thank you to those whom answered my query in earnest.

A little about me; I am 33 , never smoked before 2 months ago. I got the tobacconist job as a PT job. The owner assured me that I do not need to be a smoker to retain the product knowledge and it would take me at least 6 months of training before I could really call myself a tobacconist. We have a lot of great resources, I ask questions about everything, and always ask my customers about their smoking experiences and preferences. I think I learn more from them than anywhere else. I love the job and the culture and community.

Since I have started working, I have smoked one pipe, half a cigar, one hookah and two ploom pods. I enjoy the smooth, flavorful, low nicotine experience from hookah and ploom model one the most. I find the pipe very traditional and enjoyable and intend to use it more on a social basis.

I am a bit of a coffee snob and can see parallels in cigar and pipe smoking, as well as other forms of tobacco. Vaporizers appeal to my gadgety nature, and I appreciate that they are non-combustion, resulting in a smoother smoke. I think I can enjoy them on a casual, social basis like most people enjoy a cigar or pipe or hookah. It is not something I intend to indulge daily. If this intention offends too many and it not welcome here, I will graciously depart.

I apologize for not replying sooner. I posted late at night and only have access from my mobile, which is not my favorite way to internet. I will try to keep up with this thread if we can continue reasonable discourse.

I don't think you really offended anyone as you are not attacking what we do. You just confused us with seemingly conflicting information in your original post. And the vast majority of people here are concerned with never-smokers picking up a vaporizer because of all the potential consequences. As far as I know and am concerned, any vaper is welcome here whether you chain vape all day to keep off the cigarettes or you vape only on the weekends or whatever for the sheer pleasure of it. We're not going to be able to answer any questions about the Ploom. But if you'd like an optimum vaping setup, that is actually a vaping setup using the PG/VG juice mixes, we can guide you in the right direction.

I think your leaning curve as a tobacconist is going to be a steep one if you're not a regular smoker, but I certainly don't recommend smoking to catch up. It sounds like you're going to do what you're going to do either way. The least we could do is offer our advice on the vaping end of it. If you have a question, do some reading or post a thread. In a day or two, people won't even remember you're the non-smoker looking to learn about vaping and we'll answer your questions the same we do anyone else.

But before you begin vaping, if you do, I'm just going to stress one more time that you should be aware of the inherent risks and never ever ever EVER EVER vape any juice with nicotine if you don't already have an addiction to it.

Where you least expect it....

Comparing an e-cigarette to a device like the Ploom is like comparing apples to oranges. Once again, this is an e-cigarette forum. If there is any further discussion about those types of devices. Then there will be consequences for those actions.

I posted here because there were a couple of old threads with good info for adding VG/PG to ploom pods and other ways to repack them. There were no consequences in those threads as far as I can tell.

I believe I will take leave of this forum for the time being. The mixed reaction I am receiving and posts like this one make me feel less than welcome. Thank you to those that have tried to answer my questions in a friendly manner.

its just not a good habit to pick up when you are a non-smoker and people honestly are just looking out for you and will never endorse what you are doing. This forum is filled with great people.

I agree with what others have said. Don't do it!! And if you feel you have to just use 0mg nic. I started smoking when I was 15 and it was the biggest mistake of my life. Ecigs offer us a way to get off the cigs and try to reduce the harm to bodies and many of us still struggle with this addiction daily and possibly for the rest of our lives. Part of the reason I switched to ecigs was for my kids. My oldest child is almost 15 (same age I was when I started smoking) and it would kill me to ever see her smoking, knowing how terrible of an addiction it really is...in short JUST DON"T DO IT. Your an adult and free to do as you please but I advise against it. Nicotine addiction is very easy to acquire (wether from vaping or cigs) and extremely difficult to overcome...

So I'm trying to get my 5 newbie posts out of the way by introducing myself and looking for advice. I am a non-smoker, but began working as a tobacconist 2 months ago. Just being in the culture and environment gave me a new perspective and respect for tobacco and smoking. Vaping seems like one of the healthier approaches and appeals to my gadgety nature. I was able to get a hold of a ploom model one and love it. I can't wait to experiment with shisha and VG in this thing.

That being said, I am not looking to e-cigs or vaping as a way to replace cigarettes. I enjoy the flavor and ritual of smoking. I'm sure the nicotine doesn't hurt, either.

As a non-smoker, what would give me the best vaping/e-cig experience?

... what is a tobacconist?
