Price of smokes just too hight: Forget this! Gonna quit!

Yup. I have decided to get rid of the analogs. My only problem is that I am really worried about that first thing in the morning smoke!!! I do have high nic cartridges. I am also really worried about my mood. I don't want to take my grumpiness on my family.

I am also puffing like crazy on my e cig. Is this normal? It's like I don't want to take it out of my mouth. Does anyone else have experience with this?

I am looking forward to putting a badge on my profile saying how long I have been quit. I know it will be a one day at a time process. Feeling a bit anxious about everything. Everytime I try to quit, it always ends up with me going back.

I don't want to go back. I don't like spending $10.25 per pack of 25's.

This is a venting thread, no doubt. Thanks for reading. :)

Nic cartridges? what set up are you using?

I got into this without really intending to quit the smokes. Using a V spinner and an AeroTank (s) I would say I have no desire to smoke but had a dream last night I was smoking,,,,,, and liking it!. The last cigarette I lit up a few weeks ago tasted horrible and I put it out and went for the vape.

My advice is go for GOOD set up with high nic juice and you will be successful. If you light up? big deal, don't let it be a deal breaker. Doesn't take long at all for a set up to pay for itself at todays cigarette prices.

Edit: I should mention I have been smoking on and off for 40 years.

Yes, most of us tend to vape a lot more than we smoked, but the e-cigs put nicotine into our system differently from analogs. And the flavours can be so yummy they're hard to put down. :vapor:

You don't need to put a ton of pressure on yourself to switch completely overnight. As mentioned, If you really need an analog, have an analog.
For some people it takes a while to get off them. Take your time with it...the important thing at this point is that you're smoking less.

Look into getting a good refillable type unit. I would suggest visiting a local vape store and talking with someone in person. They will be able to provide you with a reasonably priced setup and let you try some flavours and nicotine strengths that will work best for you. As others have said as well, you may not be able to give up the cigarettes completely, but even replacing some cigarettes with the e-cigarette will be a positive outcome. Over time you may find you enjoy the cigarettes less and less and the e-cigarette more and more. Just don't give up, give it a fair chance and hopefully it will work out for you.

I will be sticking to my extremely simple set up. The basic battery and cartridge works perfectly. I am just worried about tomorrow morning!

All good mate, whatever works for yah and keeps you off the analogs.

Ps. I also said same as you, now I own several regulated and mech mods, been 17 months and no analogs.

Best of luck to yah, we're here if u need us.

My advice is to not pressure yourself. I started vaping a month ago with no intention of quitting cigs entirely. I figured 'hey if I light a real one, no big deal'.
After a short time, I got to the point where cigs were tasting horrible, and I found myself wanting to vape every time I lit one.
So I put the cigs down for good.

Every cig you avoid because of vaping is one less you smoked!
Good luck!

I will be sticking to my extremely simple set up. The basic battery and cartridge works perfectly. I am just worried about tomorrow morning!

My friend had the same issue your having. What worked for him was to have a high nic (16-18mg) in the mornings. In the afternoon switched to a mid level nic strength (12mg).

It took him at least 3 months to be able to vape 12mg in the morning.

I didnt intend to quit smoking analogs. I told myself that it would be my birthday present. To be smoke free! Well, I beat that by 4 months. Just reading the posts about how nasty analogs taste made me really think about what I was doing whenever I lit up. They do taste terrible compared to my little e cig.

I am not saying I am a non smoker. Not quite yet. I know there could still be some rough patches. Addiction is a strong pull and no matter how strong you think you are, it can come crawling back. My primary goal is not to buy a pack of smokes OR bum a smoke if I am tempted. I am taking this one day at a time, as thats all I can do.

Tomorrow will be day 4. I was able to handle the first thing in the morning craving by using my nicorette quick mist spray as soon as my eyes openned! Thanks for all your support!

Good job! I wish you the best with your vaping journey and hope someday you'll be able to call yourself a non-smoker :)

With that said, even if you can't kick analogs altogether or it takes you a while, make sure you count the little wins, too! Every craving you handle with vaping rather than a cig is a win in itself.

Don't be afraid to chain vape at all. Most us do when we first start, and many continue to do so even long after quitting analogs. I stepped down my nic level about 2 weeks into my journey just so I could continue to chain-vape at home and not feel too bad about it.

Also, the short term rewards of quitting smoking are incredible! I've only been cig free for just over 30-days, but I already feel better, breathe better, have more energy, and my sense of smell and taste have started to revive. The health effects are very tangible in so little time, and the last point there about returning senses is just amazing! It's great for vaping, as I'm really starting to enjoy the subtle notes of my juices a lot more as times goes by, and I've been falling in love with my favorite foods and beverages all over again.

Hopefully some of the above helps motivate you to keep at it. Like Talyon said, there are plenty of us here for help and support, you're not alone in this trek.

33 years of a pack a day here. Congrats on finding e-cigs. I think it is awesome that I can wake up in the morning, reach for my e-cig on my nightstand and puff away. No lighter, no stench of smoke. It's all about getting my nicotine fix, and that I get. Without the added tar and carcinogens, and giving the government my hard earned cash. I started with 18mg. I've stayed at 18mg.....and I have no plans on cutting down at the moment. I love vaping. I love the taste. I love the variety of flavours. The cig to mouth habit has been replace by ecig to mouth habit (SO WHAT!).....and that was probably the hardest part of quitting for me.....And Lord knows I've tried to quit countless times in my 33 years before. Keep on vaping!

Having used the QuickMist thing, I'm glad that I started vaping just so I could leave the stinkies and the Nicorette products behind.

If you think you need a higher concentration of nicotine in the mornings, then definitely consider having a morning juice, and a rest-of-the-day juice. Personally, I vape 18mg until my first pot of coffee is finished, then switch to a 12mg. I have a third tank filled with 6mg for the late evening. It saves me from the morning cravings, and the evening overdose as I chain vape in front of a book or the TV.
