Drilled one out today... Popped out the pin (it's mostly hollow) and drilled a hole on both coil facing sides of the center post near deck hight. Then drilled at about 10 degree angle down through the edge of the center pin so that the bit hit about center in the hollow post near the top deck holes. I put the hole so that the slot in the center pin contact would help increase the flow in/out of the atty. Basically the hole goes up through the pin edge and into the delrin insulator and then into the center post passing through the end of the copper pin threads.

Also tapered off some of the shelf to the air holes in hopes of shedding juice back into the well instead of down the intake holes.

Haven't tried the plastic cap yet but the N22 is working quite well so far with the SS cap.

Last BF atty I used in 2014 was the N22 and now it's bringing in the new year :)

Is that the one linked above from ft?

Yes, same one. Cheep enough to not worry about messing it up.

The 510 length is spot on "right" and it fits together nice and smooth. No functional or use issues to note with that one I drilled out and am using now.

Great!

What was your method for tapering the top shelves...machine tools..?

Is the cap built to accommodate a single wick /coil setup?

Great work...keep it up! Let us know how the plastic cap works for you...I tend to vape until dry and it takes me a bit to realize I've done that!

DNA40 sure helps with the dry vape ... no more burnt cotton, so nice! :)

I used the smallest end mill bit I have at a 12 degree angle and it was too big for the space so side post corners got a little bit shaved off too. Since I couldn't reach the ends with the end mill the ends knocked down easily with a small pointed diamond rotary tool bit.

Yes, both caps are cut for either dual or single coil intake. I ran it single for the last 24hrs. Here's what the N22 looked like after vaporizing about 6ml when I replaced it with a Rogue drilled out today (no joy)!

Another shell finish with hammer paint that I put on 3 thick back to back coats in a cold bay of the garage. Each part got sprayed and then rotated in front of a hot heater to flash dry the surface enough to keep things from running. Sat over top the mud room heat register over night and used the same spray and roast dance with clear coat. Interesting results.

Knurled screw heads, say it isn't so! I smile a little bit every time I get an atty with set screws because I like'em. Screw sizes don't stick in my head but those are thicker than most others (bigger driver bit too).

Yeah...I lose tools among tools. ...like toolless. : )

If all I had to do is solder the wires, then I would be unhappy. I love building and making things work. It's actually my job to do so, I'm a gunsmith!

I know that there are people here that can't do anything, they can barely get over the fact they have solder the wires, I know it can be hard. That's why I say if you don't think you can do this work or might want to alleviate the headache or doubt in your craftsmanship, I offer my labor to those in need.

I'm a gunsmith and I have a full machine shop here at my disposal, I also paint with airbrushes and use both CeraKote and Duracoat. I would be happy to help any members here in putting theirs together. I won't charge any money, except if you want me paint, I only ask for $5.80 for return shipping (any additional for insurance).

Wire and solder will be free of course!........ I know that there is still a couple weeks until we get our parts from the GB, in the meantime, if anybody would like to contact me for info please feel free to do so.

If anyone reads this post, DO NOT send any parts to this forum member, he is a thief.

I contacted him and agreed to pay $50 + shipping to paint and assembly and shipped 2 complete mod kits including DNA40s in early November. These were to to be Christmas gifts for the missus and myself. We have never received them to date.

The last contact was on 12/19 which he seemed to indicate that several other members had sent him mods to assemble. I hope it was just a bunch of bull and that we are the only victims. It was around $400+ in parts, but it was our Christmas presents to each other which makes it so hurtful.

I doubt he will be back, but you never know. Man I love Texas, spent 3 years in San Antonio and Austin. Good times and great folks. always a bad apple I guess.

Maybe I'll try again when we can get the funds.

Oh my - so sorry to hear this Clark! I almost sent him a PM myself - however, money was very tight this season due to unforeseen medical issues so I had to hold off.

I was hoping someone would make one (rather have a mechanical one instead of the DNA though) and it not be their cup of tea and I could grab one in the classies but that hasnt happened yet lol

Guess I'll try to jump on the next run of Co-Op parts and hope for the best in building one.

Again - sorry this happened :(

Hey gang, I finally got a little free time and started building one of my 2 gdeal BFs. Before I pop in a battery, I wanted to see if you all could take a look at the following pics and check to see if I got the wiring correct. If I missed an angle, let me know and I'll post it for clarification.
