My non-BF assemblies were for others... since I'm quite content with BF mods :) I do however keep one Tibs handy and will probably swap the board someday.

I built two of them and I have a third kit that I cant seem to find the time to build.

Gdeal, I think I can help you out with that. Send me the parts and I can put it together for you. I promise to send it back to you...in a year or 2. ;)
I made the mistake of thinking 1 Tibs should suffice. Wrong. Which is probably why I got enough parts for 7 GDNA's.

I was building Taifun, Russian, Erlkonigin and a number of other tanks from time to time with Kanthal and they work just fine on a BF mod. Shoot those tanks are what got others here interested in the Tibs shell back when I was just getting fully sucked into BF mods. Once the Nautilus and Atlantis tanks came out I found little reason to mess with RTAs (DW still prefers a Provari under tanks). Having more time to mess with what I like, I'm happily done experimenting with Kanthal (for now) so nickel coils are all that interest me these days since I first experienced a DNA40. Bottom fed RDAs are just so darn good and simple I've had little drive to put nickel in a tank yet!

Some nice free time after Christmas let me get some more RDAs drilled out and DNA40 boards running the best way I know possible ... The dirty brown old looking one just got put in use tonight so I thought it was time to round up some gdeal prints for a camera shot. The shell on the right awaits DNA and SS feeder tube.

RMAs really messed up my plan to use a couple of these for Christmas presents. Took a week off for thanksgiving planning to put these together but alas I discovered dysfunctional boards!

Ty, I'm in awe of your GD BF family, keep up with the great builds! Hopefully my second GD build will have better luck than my 1st :)

Best mod on the planet IMO... I know the DNA build issues pain well ... only one out of my original 5 DNA40s worked right ... caused me to cut boards out for RMA and build a tester to pre test before chancing more mounts in the gdeal frames. Of 4 RMA boards that have Celsius mode; 2 have exhibited screen glitches but hasn't seemed to effect functionality and a sleep or power cycle fixes the display craziness.

Build hint: I discovered later that the 2 curved internal frame pieces didn't need glue (I was putting a dab of glue in the magnet hole and thus locking the stack together). Now I only put epoxy on the base frame areas so that it can be completely disassembled for a board swap if needed. Another piece that doesn't need glue is the switch plate.

Any pro tips here on how best to pre-test a dna40 board prior to gracing it with a GD frame?

Also pro tips on what & where to glue and what glue works best would be great. I know many of you must have learned some painful lessons along the way. ;-)

TyCreek, I was hoping I'd get lucky with my units, but I've come to the harsh and time consuming reality of realizing I'll need to build a testing unit to test my others before sending back my first failed unit.

LOL, By sheer dumb luck I only clued the magnet and +/- connections to the base frame ;) I read that you had to cut your boards out (bummer), couldn't you have used nail polish remover to help get them apart? For me it helped "unstick" my up/down buttons after I got a little carried away with the super glue :)
