Ok guys, I have a quick question. So I'm dry fitting the Polished Gray parts from Sculpteo and I notice on the screen cover, where the battery contact is supposed to slide in, there are no grooves in the rails. Is it ok to just grind these rails off and glue the contact on the cover? I just don't know how I can create grooves where there are none to start with or how to fit the battery contact in there.

Would appreciate any help. Thanks!

You could make the groove with a coping saw blade?

A sawzall or jigsaw blade also works good. I also use an xacto knife if only a small amount of cleaning out is needed.

You guys sound like I know what i'm doing  no idea what those are but I'll look them up

Thanks

The grooves are prolly there, just covered in dust, just use a sharp object to score and clean out the dust

Did that Bob. Scored with an awl then a screwdriver...nothing. I have to say, the gray polished just doesn't seem to have good tolerances as the white polished. Everything fits tights so I had to do a bit more work to prep it. Had some problems with the grooves on the screen cover as well but fixed it eventually. If I get another one, it will be in white. So much easier, hardly any prep work needed

This is a bit strange. Grey Polished is basically White unpolished, but then dyed and polished. I am interested to see what they did to the rails. Can you post a picture? Maybe I can make an adjustment to the design?

Hey Gdeal, I don't now much about 3d printing but personally, I think its just a bad unit. Even though the tolerances were a little off overall, only one small part had a real problem. This is the same screen cover that I had problems fitting into the base without the frame legs splaying out. Anyway, sorry for the quality of the pic. I couldn't get any closer with my phone camera

Yep didnt have this problem on my white polished and I understand this stuff isn't going to be perfect. I gotta go see if I can find a coping saw blade around here. Worst case, I might just grind the rails off and glue the contact on. As always, thanks for the help!

Nail file, folded sandpaper, even string...most anything can be used.

For those of us who are challenged in the tools and tool use department like Bob here, a pic might help. Probably not Bob, he is beyond help. ..lol. A few short hand drawn swipes with the blade biased about 45 degrees and slots are there.....no sweat.

So, we're killin flies with Hand Grenades these days
