So after weeks of waiting, learning, experimenting and correcting.....I've finally got one!

I knew nothing of electronics, soldering, machining or modding before this, and it took me probably around 20+ hours of work but I got it. I still have to grind the top of the body shell to get the inner frame screwed down, but after everything, should be fairly simple (I hope). That plus some paint so she doesn't look so plain...

A big, big thanks to everyone here for perfecting this design and for helping a noob actually get this done. Awesome mod! Thank you!

Edit: anyone on the fence about this who wants to know what to expect building this, feel free to PM me

Get-R-Done :)
If you carefully glue the internals you can replace the chip if it's defective :)
For Me it was so much fun I am building # 4 as soon as my SW part come (any day now) :)

Great kingdal. Funny thing it's been more than 4 months and I haven't built my mod yet :(. I'm just afraid that as soon a I start my dna 40 would be bad. Did rma once but didn't get around testing the new ones.

Hey Aal, i was like that too. I'd read the build doc so many times i must have memorized it but i just couldn't get started. Eventually i started reading up on the dna 40 and felt i was missing out big time, so that got me going. And the farther along you get, the more you want to get it done. Besides, what you going to do with all those CH attys :)

Testing the chip is pretty easy too. There are some images on this thread of dna40 test beds, including one using alligator clips. i just followed along best i could.

Gotta say, once you're actually using a mod you built, and especially if it's a dna40 squonker, it is awesome!

a Neo is GDeals new baby

most likely spawned from the original name REO

not sure why NEO was chosen. Perhaps GDeal is a big fan of SNK arcade games. Perhaps he always wanted a NEO GEO, but couldn't afford the large amount it took to purchase 1 game for the arcade/home console

that last bit is all BS, but the other stuff is good
