Does anyone have pics of the white grainy vs white polished?

This is the best example I could find....

You can sand down the regular WSF if you dont like it, but the polished WSF comes out a lot smoother (not perfectly smooth). But it really depends on how you want to finish it. Painting, dipping, clear coating, etc. If you look at some of the pictures posted earlier, all the color versions (except black) are polished, so you can see some more examples. I did find that the Metallic Plastic comes out the smoothest with minimal print lines.

I can really tell you how to customize your device.. its a personal preference thing... I like the surface of the regular Metallic Plastic, I wish it just came in other colors....

I have the original aluminide I did with the beta, never cleared it or any other type finish, I call it my rugged mod, I love the feel, not slippery or shiny and the shell itself is more rigid feeling. I also have a green shell with white trim ring and white button (made it for my niece who just graduated from Michigan State) which looks nice but the color bleeds a bit and thus needs to be clear coated, it's actually turned the white internals a bit green. Have a white one, black, and all metal coming, planning on plasti dipping the white one or hydro coating it.

I thought Dennis was working on a hypo tube with a flange?...I still am not sure how these are going to seal with a floating pin even with the hypo tube.

Yea he is, I'll follow up on that and see what the status is on that.

Put another one together. I used Cerakote for the body and button. This coating is unbelievable durable. (Thanks for the sample Bap!)

Really like the way that came out.

Now all I have to do is build and adapt mikepetro's sous vide controller to a toaster oven.
I think I've got some thermocouples around here somewhere... :p

It would work. Just plug any 110v mechanical thermostatically controlled appliance into the front, and set it to max. Hot plates, rice cookers, coffee roaster elements, crock pots, and even toaster ovens, 15A max.

And I agree wholeheartedly about the Cerakote, that is what I will use on mine. Incredibly durable. Did my last Lipo Tibs that way and am thrilled with the result. Mine will be black on the bottom, and lime green on top. I will flash the black bottom, then stencil a design on it using the same lime green that I use for the top. Got an alumide ring and button, I will probably CA those.

Any pointers to a how-to on CA ?
I can see me getting it horribly wrong and the 911 call of me glued to the ceiling and the refrigerator being played on late night TV.

With cerekote I could get the less expensive shapeways pieces and still get a more durable mod.

Bingo !
Cheaper, quicker to ship, won't bleed....
