A flat washer (silicone or similar substance). Even a sheet of silicone and a couple of hole punches might work.

Think garden hose washer, but appropriate OD and ID.

Got it, I was thinking a stainless steel washer, where the power would go through the brass connector to a SS washer to the hypotube flange.

Do you think there is enough solid hypo tube to hollow brass connector surface area to make a good connection. Or are you thinking just solder to the bottom of the hypo tube?

I would solder to a gap in the bottom part of the hypo tube. That extra brass/SS junction would be a huge voltage drop.

I tried this on some dna Screen bezels before. I used a polythene glove and applied the glue with my fingertips, no lint.....

That's the plan for next trial.
Only used the towel to dab excess, but I think poly glove would work better.

Wasn't looking for a glass finish this time.
Accidentally ordered a low profile button so figured why not....

And wax paper makes a great work surface, the CA wont stick to it.

It sure does, hard to see but it was under the stuff in the first picture.
Oddly enough I set a wet glass on the edge and the wax paper got funky.
They don't make anything properly anymore - and this was a national brand to boot !

Ok...how does this sound for getting to an easily sealed FD connector?

I havent found a source yet for the silicone gasket, but we can replace the current silicon oring with this oring:

2mm X 2.5mm Metric Buna-N 70 O ring [N2.00X002.5] : The O-Ring Store - O-Rings, Seals, and Kits, We make getting O-Rings easy!

and use this SS washer to increase the flange area (adds only .35mm to height):

McMaster-Carr

If the top of the of the brass pin is reduced in height per Mike's graphic, this should give a good seal between the ss pin and brass collar.

Then we use these as a replacement for soldering to the SS Pin, Its brass and you can easily remove it if you need to get the pin out. Its going to take a way about 3mm or so from the space for the juice bottle, but the 510 is shorter than the classic so it may be a wash in term of height for the juice bottle. What is nice about this is that it is adjustable so you can get it tight against the hollow brass collar and secure the ss pin with some compression to maintain a seal even with the atty off. (The lower section of the hollow brass connector that extends out of the brass cap nut can be reduced as well). I think Mundy posted something like this earlier....

Amazon.com: Great Planes Plated Wheel Collar (4-Piece), 1/16":

So with source-able parts and two minor modifications I think we have a solid leak free BF connector...???

All this elaborate workup to avoid a hollowed screw? Why? whatever the cost, it's the easiest option

Just kickin around ideas while I wait for the second sample screw, which should get shipped tomorrow. But its not like everyone is going to be able to get a good screw when ever they want....(MOQs...special order, etc.)

Some people can't leave well enough alone.
Why use a known working solution when you can Rube Goldberg something designed in a vacuum... and add a washer... and grind it.. and..
