I will be one of those hard time first builders, so expect a million questions once I get everything in one place. I'm not worried at all about my Pekochu mod since I can tinker and fiddle with the best of them, but soldering little electronics... yikes. I will almost definitely need to buy a new soldering iron. (I think mine was a radio shack special handed down to me from someone else who soldered once every decade.)

I would get some old electronic device, pull out the circuit board, and practice on that. My early soldering was pretty crap, but it has improved dramatically. There's some great soldering tutorial videos online, very useful to accelerate learning.

David, while you are waiting for Shapeways to respond, (should be within 24hr, (but YMMV) you can try to fix/assemble the parts. They will not ask for it back. Just make sure you got good pictures of the issue

So....CA glue does wonders. I had to replace a DNA board, that I fried in a 3.1. After I got done prying it apart, (This was before I started getting smarter at where I was placing the CA glue) I had a couple of pieces that broke off, bent or destroyed. After swapping out the DNA, I just reassembled the fixed up internal and it was fine. Bent pieces got straighten out, broken piece either were glued back in place and I even added some epoxy (then sanded) a small piece that I misplaced. Its ugly, but it worked. I gifted it to a friend and they had no clue. lol. But its not like he was going to know the difference and he probably will never inspect the re-aassembled part.

Anyway just a suggestion, hopefully Shapeway's does the right thing. It doesnt get them off the hook, they still suck, you should be ......, but at least you are not complete out on the part. They could have mixed up a part and sent you something completely not salvageable. Just a couple of thoughts....

Shapeways ended up emailing me, said they were going to issue a refund, so I'll try to fix these and still order another set from Sculpteo :)
Main reason I haven't ordered it already is I'm waiting for another DNA mounting plate for a Hammond box to be come available there...... just pay shipping once.
I may try my hand at autoCAD and see if I can make one though.... Any pointer on a good place for online "lessons"? Haven't used CAD since UNIX in 1993..... Still have my drafting table if I can mail a paper rendering  LOL

GDNA 3.1.1 Alumide body polished white internals
$101.58..............

Just ordered from Sculpteo:

GDNA 3.1 All parts Alumide $99.05

$105.55 with shipping. Supposedly shipping 2-day priority by the end of the month.

This is one of the reasons people are hoping Sculpteo will be a replacement for SW. I really really hope the quality of their printing is good.

Now if they can just get their customer service up to par.

I am seriously excited about making both the GDNA and the Pekochu mech... I'm bouncing... very undignified.

Dave, once you try the GDNA, you'll put that Hammond box away with all the other 'Used to Use' stuff, don't waste any more money on it

While I don't have it built yet, I would have to agree. The Hammond boxes are more for gifts now... ordered a few DNA30's before I got in on the DNA40 deal, so I thought I'd put them to use and build a few boxes for my smoking/Ego using friends for Christmas :)
Many wont completely quit because the cig-a-likes and Ego's aren't doing it for them, but refuse to "spend money" to QUIT.
To me, at $10 a pack and 2 packs a day.... a MOD is cheaper in the long run, but I've been blue in the face trying to explain it. Figure a DNA30 as a gift my kick them to quit :2cool: and give me a good project at the same time;)

So you got the Alumide with everything sprued together, Ken?

Everything sprued together? I did get the Aluminide for the GDNA, but had to put all the pieces into the cart individually. I originally tried to order an all aluminide Peko as a package deal and got an email and store credit that they do not do aluminide parts that are packaged. Only 1 object per 3d file. So the $99 was the price for the body, internals, top cap, low tach button and skinny ring separately. I think the packaged deal would have been like $79, but they refuse to print them that way. Still it cheaper than shapeways. Hopefully it will come out nice.
