I don't know a "best" max temp as I'm probably a long way from dialing in a best on any atty. But at 430 and 15W or so with a VG banana & orange cream it can produce a hit of burn when KGD goes dry. Some full hits of nice creamy flavor without hitting max temp when its wet. So 420 might be a better max with that particular coil and KGD.

and seeing ty post reminds me of something i was curious about but failed to ask before i closed a certain thread ;)

how much easier is the set up for this mod with the custom screws from zago? was it worth the wait? :?:

Oh my goodness, Yes! It's worth the plug&play wait!
I drilled my own screw on the other DNA30 BF and while it works great, it was a PITA to get cut down right and then step drilled for SS all the way into the bottle. The perfect screw however has less than perfect hole centering so step drilling for a SS tube insert to the bottom of the bottle is beyond my skill, tooling and patients. The screw I drilled had very little wall left in the 1/4in or so for the SS insert and the main hole needs to be spot on perfect or the bit will just blow out the side.

What provides the seal between the FD 510 and the juice feed hole in the atomizer?

You put an o-ring between the FD and the base of the atomizer. Once you tighten the atty down it will make a seal and prevent juice from seeping from between the FD and atty.

Look ... no o-rings! LoL

Day 2 DNA40 with gdeal BF ... coil 2 is "better"! Yesterday was a 28ga basic rough wrap in a Divo. Today is twisted single strand of 34ga nickel until it was springy vs. floppy... then cut it in thirds and twisted them together for slipping into a Cyclone. This coil holds its shape and produces more vapor and flavor. A very enjoyable vape!

New favorite mod ... not without issues but still preferring the DNA40 to DNA30.

Today I'm enjoying a bit over 13W at 420F temperature setting.

My Dna40 bit the dust last night. Took about two weeks. After one week started getting lockups and garbled screens. Glad i have a few new ones on hand so not to have the wait of return shipment. So anyway, apparently not all bad boards show up immediately. But still sad having to go a day sans bf mod! Damn you for this addiction...or thank you...lol. Either way, just shows i need to get off it and finish several new builds.

Same boat ... while my DNA40 rocks when it's working right ... it's not perfect! Screen glitches, weird modes, etc... saving grace is that the gdeal mod makes it so easy to reset the board for hours or minutes of TC bliss! I too need to get busy ... if for nothing else but to see how many other DNA40 boards might be afflicted with fruit loop syndrome? This one does have the paste or silicone visible and I didn't notice any issues during initial tests.

It would be luck to test for it, because mine can go for hours of use before flaking out and I've yet to figure out what might be triggering it. I thought loose coil or atty contact but have yet to get anything repeatable.

Oh well ... when it works it's very nice!

I remember prototyping a high amp & voltage electric bike controller, sequence after sequence of testing, tag on boards, etc... it took a long time before it finally got stable and then another controller released and kicked its ..... Had a ball doing it though :)

While the easy reset thing is true, that is a double edged sword. I found myself resetting and forgetting you have to let the atty cool or it will toss off the temp controls. Anyway, I was just waiting on replacements before I tackled the issue. Fingers crosses I only end up with one bad board.

Addiction? What addiction? At worst it's a dependence. And I've got a bad case! :D

akTy6Y5.jpg

Yup. I went from no BF mods to now having everything for 5, maybe 6 or more. Definitely addiction. I won't call out the names, but a certain couple of forum members were selling off all their stuff a little while back. Well, I thought they were nuts and bought several items. Damn, looks like I maybe having that same fire sell myself.

lol, rossum, you better fix those 2 gaps - they hurt the eye! :D
Sorry! That was a quick shot. The black mod on the end is serviceable but isn't actually in service at the moment. That atty would need a different build in it first, so it's not screwed on tight.

The second mod with the smaller gap, well.. I think I need to get some thinner o-rings for these bigger 'Nuppin atties. Priort to getting them, I was using Cyclones where the OD of the atty matched OD of the o-rings I was using. Those o-rings are not the officially correct ones, but #41 o-rings from Lowes, which are a bit thicker than optimal.

I donno, from what I've been reading, these ver.1 DNA40s seem to be more trouble then they're worth vape wise, any thoughts?
Well, they're bleeding edge stuff. Mine has been pretty good so far, but I gave up on nickel very quickly, instead I've mostly run titanium (which does run in temperature mode, although with a ~100F offset). But even if Evolv had released this product without temperature mode and we were all running Kanthal, it would be a big improvement over the DNA30. It seems to address every complaint people had with the previous DNA20 and the DNA30 boards. So is it more trouble than it's worth to be on the frontier? Not to me. Besides, I have backups. :D
