I donno, from what I've been reading, these ver.1 DNA40s seem to be more trouble then they're worth vape wise, any thoughts?
I agree with the above post. Additionally, it's the first board that I've used and I gotta say I'm pretty impressed. I was worried about the actual power, being a low sub ohm vaper, and the thing holds up nicely in that department. As far as tc is concerned, I'm having fun playing with it. It hasn't been too much trouble and it's a good idea from a health standpoint so I'm pretty happy with that as well. Besides that it's super easy to build on, not much different from other dna boards I guess which is another plus. Being my only experience with regulated devices, other than a provari, I gotta say I'm glad I checked it out and again, I'm pretty happy with it.

Well, they're bleeding edge stuff. Mine has been pretty good so far, but I gave up on nickel very quickly, instead I've mostly run titanium (which does run in temperature mode, although with a ~100F offset). But even if Evolv had released this product without temperature mode and we were all running Kanthal, it would be a big improvement over the DNA30. It seems to address every complaint people had with the previous DNA20 and the DNA30 boards. So is it more trouble than it's worth to be on the frontier? Not to me. Besides, I have backups. :D

My only point is they're not selling the board as an 'improved' DNA30, they're selling it highlighting 'Temperature Control', when you sell it retail, it's not supposed to be bleeding edge, it's supposed to work for most, and I'm not hearing or reading that

Rant Over

... it's just so nifty though! :)

A good juicing cools it down quick :) it does seem to go wacko in waves... well sometimes? Most often when it's been sitting or out in the cold... once it's working it mostly stays working as long as it's being cycled. I have less issues with a quick button press when I pick it up and then go about vaping bliss. The draw tells you it's not running right.

A 1st coat of 24K on a couple perfect fit OOB shells done ... just another 5 or 6 coats to go! Sure like weekends when there's opportunity for some garage time!

Even with my squirrely board, I have enjoy my dna40. They will replace so no sweat. As for temp control, guess I was lucky and nailed it with my first coil. Two weeks in and have been using the same coil and rewicked once (due to not have my temp set low enough). Great flavor, tons of vapor and all around warm fuzzy (must be that special ejuice...lol). Except for the resets and forgetting to let it cool, no real complaints with temp control. Oddly I think the proper temp to use maybe lower than people think, it was for me. Went higher on my normal wattage and set the temp down to a point no dry hits could occur (as it was happening at 450). My sweet spot for the juice I was vaping (Bobas) was 430 and 25 watts. Used 28 gauge nickel wrapped on a 2mm rod, but made more loops than I could count (ran out of fingers). Single coil in a Nuppin' and slightly spaced. Fingers crossed this new board I am soldering in now will be stable and last longer than 2 weeks.

that must be it then :?: except i'm not running in tc since i don't have any nickel wire yet.
with 7 glorious watts dialed in, if i leave it sitting for a while, i get a nasty burned taste with that first puff.

at 7 watts a burnt hit is most likely to happen in zero gravity, are you in outer space?

srs though, what atomizer is that?

Are you having Mike fill the Taifun with Dill Pickle?
When the chip goes wacko it still fires sort of like ^^^ dropping the clutch with the RPMs high. I can hear and feel it so I back off and just reset the board to get back a wonderfully controlled vape. My screen has some pixels wonky or numbers wrong when it does this for an easy to see confirmation that a power cycle is needed.
Wonder if is a similar board still firing with a lost mind you're experiencing with Kanthal giving the burnt taste?

so far no wonky display and i've not done a reset - those little screws in the tibs are not a favorite of mine :D

You should be very intimate with those screws by now. That reminds, I am supposed to send you a few, arent I.

No problem. I was going to dump a few in a baggie of rice for you, to make sure they didnt get lost or damaged. :D

If a quick power-off reset fixes it, chances are good that's a software bug rather than a hardware problem.

It baffles me that Evolv won't doesn't show a software version number on power-up.
