You must of bin lucky. With all four of mine the connectors and the magnets needed epoxy.

Only thing i have glued in mine is the 3 tact switches and the inserts for bottom screws, which I have not used as it is easier to show people the internals and keep it clean. I may have just got lucky but after a few tweaks everything fits tight enough without glue.

The mod is basically ready...I need to finish up a short build guide (I also wanted to test Drunk_J's ring terminal approach) and then I will post and release. :)

Thanks for the update! I'm looking forward to it. Now that the dna 40's are up to par, I'm excited to build one :) Plus, you always do such a great job with the building guides. I really appreciate it.

OK, 30 likes and counting, at 50 it's a go

I just added #49. I have read this WHOLE thread and I hate this old forum style (was it only 4 pages ago that was Christmas?!)... that's why I never post here on ECF. I'm still back on page 289, will probably catch up tonight.

plzplzplz make this happen, I *NEED* one of these squonkers in my life.

edit: and then HOLY SMOKES! the 4.2 *AND* the NEO after p289? It was a complete page turner, I couldn't put it down!

Whatever you're going to source parts for BobC, I'll buy. One 3.1, one 4.2, one each of the mech mods and one NEO parts kit. I don't care if it wrecks my vape budget and I have to start the "tobacco counter" over to get the funds for the 3D parts, I'm not missing out on any future hardware coop for these things.

Wonderful work, gdeal... this is what I've wanted since I got my REO about 6 months ago. You did it, you really really did it.

edit again: what was the cost for the coop hardware kit for the 3.1 anyway? Maybe I can get a couple kits and even if I don't build them all someone will want them in the future and I can just pass 'em on.

Where exactly do I add to the likes for this? The cost on the v3.1 coop was roughly.... I wanna say 24 bucks per kit.

Pardon my (very) weak photoshop skills, but this would be a dream. Of course it would require rethinking things, and cause it to get wider, but the new SX350J chip has a max power of 60 Watts AND temperature sensing with Nickel.

No, it has a max wattage of 120 using 2 18650 in series. Single 18650 is max 60 watts.

Don't think it would fit in that tight space.

I'm well aware of that. The fact that this mod is a single battery mod makes the ceiling 60 Watts. :)

I'm well aware of this also, which is why I mentioned that rethinking would be involved. Just sharing my thoughts on an open forum is all. :)

Ok, let me put it another way, gdeals mod will have to be redesign the internals to accommodate the sx mini chip as its twice the size of a dna chip.
It would be a pain in the .... to do [emoji12]

In time, but I was not told they would be out until March...are you seeing otherwise?

No, I believe mid-March is what I've seen as well. I only mentioned the 'J' variant as a number of folks really like the temp control. Personally, I'd rather it just be an SX350 mini with 60 Watt (1 battery) maximum, as I really just use Kanthal. The 'J' and 'non-J' variants are the same size from what I've been able to tell.

So that is definitely a possibility. The device would be about 10mm wider.

It would require a completely new internal and body.

View attachment 413102

That's cool by me. I'd be available to help beta that.

is the motivation simpler, more robust internals?

From all posts and info I've seen online, the SX line of chips are better performers and more robust than the DNA line. Especially considering they have more features and higher power ceilings. Nothing against the DNAs, as I have a DNA30/40 and Gdna40 and they all work well for what they are.

The two main SX chips currently are the square screened SX350 - Authentic YiHi SX350 60W Chip! There's a DWG file for it at that link.
And the SX350 Mini (and soon to be SX350J). The Mini/J is a smaller, rectangular screened chip. Authentic YiHi SXmini 60W/120W Chip!

The major downside to them is that the screen is not separable from the chip, so the arrangement I photoshopped and Gdeal showed in his render is about the only way to make them work.

If you want a nice look, I'd say the square screened SX350 as it would look nice when the mod is standing up. If you want a slim screen and in mid-March, temperature control, you'd want the SX350 Mini/J.
