idk if you read my last post but I emailed them and it was shipped the next day.so if you try that route maybe itll get done for you.just a thought

I dont really understand Sculpteo. They send emails that your product is going to be late, then before you are done reading the email, they send a ship notice. Usually, they are way a head of the promised ship date, but then sometimes an order gets into nowhere land and you dont hear anything. But I think overall their quality has been great and on average they ship prior or on the ship date. An email to cust. service never hurts. I get the impression that its located in France, not San Fran, but usually "Andrew" responds in a day or so.

Pwheeler- search "dna 25 interest thread" it's there. He's doing all dna not just 25

Excellent! Thanks. I just saw DNA25 and didn't go further.

Quick question on my way out the door, just got the polished black PeKo yesterday and hit it with some Krylon 1311 matte this morning so I can get her together tomorrow. 3 light coats 15 minutes apart under what should be ideal painting conditions. The finish is very hazy, will this go away with drying time? This is the first time I have used 1311 and am not familiar with its characteristics so I'm not sure if this is normal.

BTW, the polished black from Sculpteo came in beautiful, very clean and all parts fit together snugly.

Thanks for any input, will get pics up when I have time.

3 weeks and still nothing. I think I may try Shapeways for any more. Anyone have any input as to quality, price and speed of Shapeways?

Sent by REO vapor

I ordered mine from Shapeways. It took 10 days. Originally they said 2 1/2 weeks but came a week early. Quality seemed fine and all fit together nicely. Got a Pink and a Black one. I have not ordered from Sculpteo so can't compare the print quality. Posted pics of the Pink and the Black . Prices were comparable.

I don't know about now, but at one time Shapeway's quality was getting very shaky. That's why everyone was ordering from Sculpteo.

Thanks, guys. I just got home and could get into both sites and checked polished white and shipping, Shapeways was only about $4-5 more than Sculpteo, but 1st class mail from order to my door in 14 days or so. That would be what I expect from Sculpteo using the expedited method, so I guess Sculpteo is still the way to go. I just won't use economy anymore.

That is still long even for economy. Most of us got them much sooner. I ordered a complete blue polished Peko plus black ring and buttons. Fifteen days from order to receipt via economy.

I guess I must have placed my order at the same time a huge rush of stuff came in and mine, being economy took a back seat.

I like Krylon 1311 mainly for sealing. For a surface protectant its good, poly is better and cerakote is great.

.....

1311 isnt for really for durability. Its more to seal the material. If you have a colored plastic, Doing a few more coats can build the surface and provide more protection, but its not going to have a thickness of a poly. Its fine for indoor and non-abusive handling of your mod. If you want more durability then use a poly. If you want ultimate durability, you can get it finished with cerakote clear.

Interesting. So when I couldn't find the hyped 1311 close by locally I bought it on line and had it shipped in (got it today). My other option was to just use the VHT Flame Proof Satin Clear Very High Temp Exhaust spray I bought to seal my Reo "vein" finishes from getting dark patina. Now its poly or Cerakote spray instead that is best for the Pekos. Wanted to do the Pekos right as I probably will just leave them the polished black and polished white rather than paint a different color. But I'm not buying anything else for them... will just try one spray on one and the other spray on the other and let the chips fall where they may. These are just intended to be beaters to test new liquids with, so their finish or how well they hold up doesn't really matter much anyway. Might get to them next weekend, have too much other new gear coming in right now that I want to get set up first as they will be daily drivers.
