Anyone else having any issues with the last batch of ready wires?

I am having two problems. First, the R section is only 3cm when they have always been 4cm in length. This is allowing only 3 wraps around a double 3mm wick.

Second, and no matter what I do to prep the wire, I am getting a really bad metallic taste. Now, I consider myself a very experienced rba user and have been using Penelpes and Odys since they came out. I have used at least 300 ready wires and many more hand made. This is the first time I have had these issues.

Anyone having the same issues. I bought quite a few on the last run and have tried several from different bags with all the same result.

Edit: Despite the R section being shorter than prior batches, they are all still metering out at 1.5ohm. The previous version of ready wires have a R wire that measures 0.19mm or 32gauge, the new ones have a R wire that measures 0.15mm or 34 gauge according to my digital caliper.

hi sedge:)

1. R section is not 3mm. 3mm is a very small distance. If you meassure the R section is about 25-30mm so it allows you to make at least 6-7 coils around wick.

The new wires are not 2 ohms like the old ones but 1,5 ohm like almost all people wanted and they are also 0,16mm in width, that is 34awg

Burn the wire to make metallic taste leave

Thats all buddy

Sorry. 3cm. The old ones were 4 cm. The old ones were 1.5ohm too.

Burning isn't helping whether by torch or preburnimg with a battery.

I edited above. The last batch is 1 cm shorter in the R section. I still have ones from the prior batch. The R wire is 32 gauge. The last batch is 34 gauge.

I had the same problem with metallic taste on the pre made wires, sedge.

I spoke to a few friends about it and nobody seemed to have had the issues I was having. I tried lots of different combinations to get rid of that taste but nothing worked.

As soon as I switched over to kanthal the problem went away so I just assumed that I must be either crazy or just sensitive to the taste of nichrome wire and thought no more about it until reading your thread.

They are different in length and width sedge as I told you before. When I say the same I mean the material:)
Same wick. 3 mm from COV and wick I've been using. I'm holding it up to one from a prior batch and measured using high end calipers. They are significantly different.

sedge was using nichrome before, so I assume that his problem is not this Paul.
Also he knows how to wrap wires around wick and he already used premade wires before so his problem is not what you said Supa.
Personally I dont have any issue with the current premade wires sedge. But as I see you have left some previous premade wires. Did you use them to see if any difference exists on vaping or its just you?
