Well if the melting is being caused by dry burning I don't think it will help much however if it is being caused by a slight amount of r wire laying on the plastic the crimp beads/tool should allow all of the R wire to be kept inside the ceramic cup.
OK so you're saying that you would put a small crimp bead at the junction of R/wire and NR/wire on both sides and make sure the beads were inside the ceramic so that if the wire leads were pulled on "too" hard while attaching the plastics and tightening them the wire would stop at the bead and not be able to pull R/wire past the ceramic slot?
I can say from experience, as I'm sure most have already seen, that when you tighten the plastics together the wire is pulled tighter simply from the tightening process of the plastics. Would be nice to have a "stop" at the ceramic end to make sure no R/wire slipped out while tightening the plastics.
Why not give that a try and let us see it and your thoughts on it?
