Problem with my mod

Hey 1st of I am new hear I have finally decided to make a post.

I have a counsel of vape mod xion, and it's never had any problems, except yesterday it started to power it's self off then it would try to power back on and would keep doing this untill I plugged a usb cable. It doesn't have to be connected to a power supply just needs the inserting in the mico usb port.

Has anyone else had this problem occur, if so how did you fix it.

Or does anyone have an idea on what to do it fix the problem. I am capable of stripping the device down, but it's my only mod at the moment so even though I am capable I would rather leave that as a last resort.

Also I do have an external battery charger I never user the device to charge the battery.

If you need any more info or pics for whatever reason let me know.

Thanks and sorry for the long post

Welcome to ECF, sam_d. I have a mod with a defective fire button. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't at all. Then it sometimes 'auto fired'. I used to wake in the middle of the night just to make sure I had removed its' battery.. I haven't used it in years, I still have it though, it's on 'display' sort of, a nostalgia thing I guess.

Sounds like an aging battery but I don’t know for sure. What model?

I did state im using brand new molicell p30b X2 there like a week old, the issue started a few days ago but now it's totally dead no batterys will get it to turn on and I have about 12 even plugging the charging cable in doesn't power it on. So looks like a new mod in a time when I can't afford one. Will have to use my other janky mod that sometimes auto fires till the end of the month haha

What mod is that I have a council of vapours (COV) tempest and that's exactly what mine does it was amazing until the fire button started playing up a little, then it would stop working n then start working out of the blue n then stop again. Then the auto firing started. But when the button wants to work it almost perfect.

I'm thinking of finding a place that repairs Xbox n playstations n get them to solder a new button on to get me though the month hopefully that's will be a dirty cheap option can get the buttons off eBay for like a quid

You may have had a counterfeit. I saw a photo once of an 18650 that was filled with mostly bubble wrap and a cigalike battery (i forget the size number of those) through the middle.
There are also primitive batteries made in mainland china that have much lower lifespan and capacity than other brands. They’re dirt cheap though, so they got rewrapped as better things. It was the basis behind always getting batteries that got them from a place that could get them from the manufacturer. Back then there were only a few decent producers though. Molicell wasn’t one of them. Sanyo, LG, and a couple others iirc. Everything else was a rewrap. That may also be a used up “goodl” battery that no longer holds a charge rewrapped as a new one.

Well it's from a reputable company and my charger would also of told me that the capacity was different and the health if the battery was an old cell.

So a bad fire switch originally? Looking at the tempest it seems to be a 4 battery regulated mod. (Unless it’s LiPO) Possibly old enough that it didn’t have a waterproof pcb.

    Things to check for:
    Any Internal corrosion
    Any liquid on the pcb

We’re likely to need pics and you may windup needing to take it apart. If it’s the switch micro desoldering/soldering wil be involved. Regulated mods in general don’t live as long as unregulated mods.

No it's the cov xion that I've originally posed about witch was turning it's self off and on. The comment about the tempest was in response to someone who noted the same problems my old tempest had
Ah, ok. 2 battery mod, even more electronics, so potentially even less repairable. Same drill.

The tempest is a triple 18650 with a poor quality fire button used as I've had 3 n had the same problem but my original post was about the xion
If it’s a triple battery then it’s series most likely. Could be parallel I guess. The fire button looks to be part of the pcb so replacing it is going to be just a bit evil. Got Any microsoldering experience?

It's just a standard parallel regulated mod and the button is a a 4 leg through hold mounted button just a case of de-solder replace and re-solder I just don't have the means to do thes anymore, that's why I was thinking of finding a place that repairs Xbox n playstations n just take them the board. But it's not the tempest I'm trying to find out about it's the xion a duel battery mod

I remember when they came out I always wanted one but couldn't afford one if I remember rightly lol
I have no idea what they cost, I won it in a contest here! Its' variable wattage (only pre-sets, on a ring that clicked!) was the main reason I stepped up from eGo/CE4 devices!
