Is anyone else having significant issues with Canada Post?
For me these are domestic packages, so not even from outside the country.
Xpresspost, the item shows out for delivery yet never gets here.

Eventually the tracking shows it was attempted delivery and sent to the Post Office, which I know the delivery attempt is bull because someone was home all day and we have a very loud dog.

*shrug* lodged a complaint against my mail carrier this morning.

I assume those packages are either COD or signature required.

For signature required, request that your package be shipped without that. Then it will be dropped off at your door with your mail regardless of if you are home or not.

In the case of COD often the letter carrier doesn’t want to collect the money and make change. It’s possible they don’t even have the change to do so, so in that case they will leave a slip as you have received, to pickup and pay at your postal outlet.

The MO of most letter carriers regarding packages -

- some will take the package with them on their daily mail delivery. If it's small and they feel confident in carrying it with all the other stuff. They will usually scan the item as "delivered" before they leave on their route - as posties don't usually carry a scanner with them. So tracking shows the item delivered - hours before that happens.

- most will scan the item as "notice left" before leaving on their route - make out a card and drop it in your box when they get to your house.

Some of the problem is that Canada Post doesn't have a real time scanning system.

Some of the problem is that Canada Post doesn't have an Xpresspost truck that does those deliveries separately - and their posties can only carry so much weight.

And - of course - some of the problem comes from a few letter carriers who seem unable to read addresses, forget to make out delivery cards, accidentally leave the package at the depot.

It's quite the combo!

I think the last one listed there is the most accurate in my case kanadiankat. It is quite annoying but not much I can do beyond what I have already. All the vendors have been great about getting stuff shipped in a timely manner so at least there is no problems on that end.

I forgot to mention that when I spoke to the letter carrier, I was told no, they dont carry packages, ALL packages come on a truck. lol

I know in my area all packages come on a truck that is subcontracted. I have caught the delivery guy several times sticking a notice on my door with out knocking or ringing the door bell. I caught him in the drive way and asked him why he didn't knock he said he thoughtno one was home which is bull. He gave me my package an took the slip back everytime. So know if I am home I literally watch for him and meet him at the door.

Ya, my postie sucks as well. Never comes to the door, just puts the slip in the mailbox at the driveway. Have lodged several complaints, mines just lazy. I now prefer to pay the little extra and have a courier deliver it so I don't have to wait another full day to go pick it up, screw CP, I won't continue to support a business that has poor service like they do.

CP did the same thing to me today, left a card in the mailbox. Cars were in the driveway and I was sitting right beside the door and they did not knock or ring the bell. I heard the top of the mailbox shut and I went out to collect the mail and there was the card with the rest of the mail. They do this all the time and it has become the normal.

On the postal service, they are trying to preserve each others' jobs. Our postie used to collect outgoing mail and then back just before they went on strike they stopped doing it because nobody was using the mail boxes... therefore they didn't need a person to drive around to pick up mail from said boxes. it may be the same story with the retail outlets, if there's no parcels to pick up there because they've been delivered by the mail man, then they don't need to have as many outlets.

I have an "item out for delivery" from Happy Vaper. I hope my carrier gets here before dinner. She's here around 5pm most days, but no sign of her today. I commented to her last week how late she was and got chewed out. I wasn't rude and had just been joking with my two neighbours. We normally got our mail in the morning...11ish. She said she starts at 10am and finishes at 8pm and I forget what she ranted on about after that cause I was astonished at her bitterness. Hope she doesn't chuck my packages in the bushes.

To top it all off, the garbage truck drove right by my house today without taking my garbage. Now I have to complain about that, too.

Update: Received my package with an apology.:thumb:

Don't forget...they also like to stop and ingest a few bubblies at the local saloon when they are finished skimming their routes. That could cause some of them to forget...even their spouses!I have 2 posties buddies that did this for years. 1 ended up hospitalized for seizures at a rate of 1000/hour. He quit drinking after that scare.

if you opt for a higher level service than "Standard Ground" then the brokerage fees are included in the shipping charges and you only pay taxes on delivery. UPS is good and the service that I usually use when a vendor doesn't use postal service or if I need something in 2 - 3 days is "Worldwide Saver".

The higher level of service which includes brokerage is near double the price to the shipper south of border.

There was an occasion where I had to ship something from the US to my company back home. It was cheaper for me to pay "Standard Ground" paying their brokerage fee in Canada than it was to select the "Express Saver" next up service.

UPS is great when you are shipping something of high value that must get there, I used them all the time for business to business . However if I am ordering something personal up from the US valued under $500, I dread it being sent UPS.
