Is it possible to buy 20 bad cartomizers? I picked them up from two different vendors but they are the same brand-- SGS 510s. I've used cartomizers from all four boxes and after filling by either dripping directly in and by the condom method, each and every one of them has had a horrible horrible burned flavor, so much so that I can't taste anything but that. It hasn't made any difference if I fill it and attempt to vape it immediately, letting it sit overnight, and allowing it to sit until the next day. There is still no taste save for the bad taste. Is it possible I had the misfortune to buy all my cartomizers from the same bad lot or do I just need to keep attempting to vape away the burn in the hope that it will eventually start spewing forth flavored plumes?

I had quite a few cartos (510) That no matter how much you fill or let stand after filling tasted burnt when using. Not saying that is your case or that many could be bad.
It does seem unusual that that many could all be bad but not unheard of.

Wish I could tell you more.. I stopped buying the 510 cartos.. because of this issue. Too many were coming to me like that. No matter what voltage I tried to use them at, burnt taste after a couple of vapes.

I have been using the Ego 510 carto and these have been very good. Massive amounts of vape and a little bit of a hassle to fill but not too bad. You do need a syringe to fill them. Hope someone will devise a better filling method.

I even went back for a bit to the 808 cartos that IMO were better for me than the 510s in terms of vape produced and quality of build.

I prefer attys over cartos any day but now that these new ego cartos are available, it is a toss up.. Still I think attys rule in the end.. :)

The same thing was happening to me too but I figured out my problem. I was filling with the condom method and it would taste burned. I took the top cap off and looked inside and it looked empty, so I added 10 drops and now it looked flooded, so I put the top cap back on and gave it spin, then opened it up again and what the heck, it looked empty, so I repeated the process. When I tried vaping it now, it was perfect. I can't believe they hold so much liquid, but they sure do.

....

Yes, I think you can. I have purchased 5 packs where every single carto tastes like burned plastic.

But are the cartos Bad? Could be. Or could it be something in my juice that reacts with something in the carto?

I think I had some multifactorial issues going on. I did go back and fill them all more, apparently having underestimated how much they would hold by about 0.5 mL. I let them set for a couple more hours and it helped about half of them. The others, though, still taste like the bottom of a BBQ grill. I don't know if my underfilling ruined them, but at least I'll view it as another 30 degrees on the learning curve and will in the future know to err on the side of overfill rather than under with cartomizers.
