There will be something of a learning curve with every tank you try. The easiest MTL rta I have found to date is the Dvarw.
What I mean is that once a proper build is placed in the rta, it should wick smoothly without any issues and should be a forgiving tank. The Dvarw is like that?

I think u are on the right track and the more u build it the better u gonna get into it...

Yes the ares 2 is considered easy to build and i agree it is but give yourself a little more time to learn to wick your berserker better...
Believe me I tried too many times. I think I may have bought the wrong cotton. Cotton Labo might not be the right one. Also I wanted to go with 26G wire but instead I got 28. The Ares 2 seems like it's made for spaced coils and it actually comes with included 26G kanthal. I saw on Amazon when searching for a different cotton, cotton that isn't the pads rather more like cotton bacon, sold by Amazon, and it's Japanese organic cotton, seems more promising.

Now that I'm think about it I actually had a berserker mini a number of years ago and had the same issues, something with the Berserkers that just are a little more difficult to get right. I'm hoping that the Ares 2 will be more of a forgiving tank.

Watch some videos about it before you decide. The Dvarw is dead easy to coil and to wick, and it is a very smooth vape. It is a bottom filling tank, which some people see as a drawback, but it hasn't cause me any problems. It also uses a variety of airflow inserts that you use to customize the airflow to suit your needs. Once the insert is in place no need to adjust. And unlike other bottom air intake tanks I have tried it hasn't leaked on me yet.

Wise words. Master the Berserker first before jumping to something else. Good way to go broke. :)

So do you think it's possible I bought the wrong wire and the wrong cotton?

I just ordered Japanese organic cotton sliver 13 feets 100% organic unbleached and the brand is Amoza sold by Amazon. Reason being that it should be a lot easier to work with. I also ordered 26G kanthal wire because it's easier to work with and I'll get a cooler vape at the lower wattages that I would normally vape on. It would have less a risk of burning my cotton at 7 watts with a 6-8 wrap spaced coil.

I know that there was something wrong in the equation. It definitely was not the tank or the e liquid. It's possible that there was nothing wrong with my cotton but I'll have better luck with this one I ordered and the 26G hopefully. This is the type of cotton you see all the reviewers using, the cotton bacon style, so hopefully I'll have better luck. I was going to order the Innokin Ares 2 but decided to give my Berserker Mini V2 another shot because like I said something was just wrong with the equation of things (or the way I was doing things possibly and this will make it easier for me).

Btw i havent use the berserker but i went and watch a video its kinda like the ares 2 i mean it has a raised deck and pretty much similar on how to put the cotton...
Also the berserker v2 seems like a perfect atty with so many ariflow deck inserts and and it will work good for sure...

About cotton i hope as others said already that u remove the skin from the pads before u use them so u are left only with flurry cotton...

Either way there is no bad cotton or coil its just what u prefer or what is easier for you...
And in my opinion maybe 26ga wire is better cause its more durable in case u have trouble build with 28 cause it may bends when u put the cotton but ok maybe 28ga is not the best for you but it doesnt matter in terms of dry hits....after all as i see u try vape it at very low wattages even for 28 wire so its not u overheat it....i dont know if u gonna vmbe able to vape at so low wattages with 26ga wire but u may need to pump the wattage a bit ofc it depends how u like to vape and in what airflow and how long or short puffs u do...

I feel like maybe u should just get a normal cotton and try build with that...
Not that pads are bad but maybe not best for you atm...

And i think u will make the berserker work...what wire u gonna use its something u will test and decide later according to airflow u use and how warm or how much vapor u want and the ramp up time u want it to have.... For now its all about building the cotton and u should be able to build and vape without ptoblems no matter what coild u use...

I would like to know what kind of insert u use on the deck and also how many holes u use on the outside airflow ring just to get an idea of how tight u try to vape it...

I just received my 26G kanthal and the new cotton that is similar to cotton bacon from Amazon in the mail. I did a 8 wrap spaced coil, 2.5mm inner diameter and I'm only vaping it at 7 watts on my aegis mini with 24mg juice, waiting on my 18mg in the mail. I separated a thin piece of cotton, a perfect amount that it wasn't too tight in the coil at all. I was able to easily comb the ends and it was as if one side was combed already. I simply used the tweezers to tuck it into the cotton ports, jutting out the slightest.

The aegis mini hits very well and hard for a mod. The flavor I'm getting on 7 watts with this coil is amazing. I understand that people use this coil to vape at higher watts than 7 but this is perfect for me. I'm so pleased with this setup right now. The cloud is also pretty decent and the ramp up time isn't that bad for this aegis mod luckily I guess if you'd compare it with my Innokin Z50. If I really cared about the ramp up I could just increase it up to 10 watts and I'd be just fine.

I know people like a hotter vape but honestly the flavor and throat hit that I'm getting is amazing and that's what I care about honestly. People were right. This tank is amazing and I just needed the right setup that works for me.

I'm still having issues wicking with the Berserker. The coil isn't keeping up to the speed that the tank needs to wick the cotton underneath the coil and saturate the legs of the cotton in the cotton ports. After trying 26G and 28G wire I feel like I need to ask one more time, does anyone who has the Innokin Ares 2 think it will wick the coil better and I shouldn't have these issues? I really want to still build my own coils. I'm good at building and wicking, I'm not having any luck for some reason. Thank you so much for all the replies and I tried everything but I'm still not having the luck.

I'm using the Aries 2 right now with pretty much the same coil I use on my Berserker; 28G kanthal, 2.5 ID, either 6 or 7 spaced wraps (I forgot). It's reading 1.02 ohms at 9 watts.

You should be good. The Berserker took some practice. My problem was too much cotton in the coil and not enough in the wells. It pretty much needs to be perfect.

Exactly. That's what I mean. It seems like I need to have a perfect build every time or something will go wrong. So do you think the Ares 2 is more of a forgiving tank and wicks the coil easier?

Besides the coil being a compressed Clapton, does your cotton look like this?

Oh no the bottom of the cotton tails were always snipped so that they aren't that low to the deck. I made them that they meet the bottom of the cotton port but not further. That picture has them much longer. Maybe I am supposed to make them that long?
