Problems with the BB

I did miss out on the crinkle for the second time (checked at 1:30EST the night they went back up & were not available) so I'm forever off the crinkle boat... sucks. I should have re-reminded Rob about it before he sent them out.

I did manage to clean much of the powder coat from the bottom half of my BB & I have noticed much improved vapor production!!! I wasn't able to get it all off of the bottom part, which is from my understanding, the most important part to remove it from. I'll have to retry to remove it all & see how it goes.

Is it competing with the 510 mega or better?
I would like to know how it does for you.

I have been using my BB steady all night and it has lasted me a good 7 hours with moderate use. Again, your mileage may very, but I think it's safe to say it's much better than the mega 510 battery. I am using AW 14500's with 750 mah. The Ultrafire have 900 mah so theoretically they should last longer, but from what I've heard they like to fudge the numbers on the true mah ratings, but it should still be plenty. Hope that helps.

That is true, the mAh numbers don't ever seen to add up. The 750's I have right now rcr123a last about 3-4 hours...but at the same time, the other two I have only last about 1-2 hours

good thing i found this thread. Im going to try scraping some of the powdercoating off the inside of bottom body. my 14500 are weak as hell and produces low vapor. when i use the same batt and atty on the protege it is working fine. Im going to give this a try and hopefully it works.

Hey guys,
Want to apologize for any inconvenience to anyone who had powdercoating residue in their BB. The easiest way to remove it is with acetone(fingernail polish remover). If your BB is not producing weak vapor, this may be the cause. Remove spring with a par of tweezers. Carefully pour 1/4 inch into battery housing. Let stand for 5 minutes. Using a screwdriver or the like as a handle, wipe the residue out with a square of cloth. Pay close attention to the corners where the spring makes contact with the case. The spring simply slips back down into the tube, just be sure to keep it right side up. This is no longer an issue with any of the new production runs. Growing pains kinda suck

I too have a bit of powder coat inside. I will clean it this weekend and hopefully get improved performance. I was wondering if using an adapter will decrease power to the atty. Has anyone with a meter tested this? I used to get a real a good throat hit with my KR808 cartos and the stock batteries that came with that kit (can't test now because the charger died). Now only the 510 does it for me. Maybe my tolerance is just getting higher because now all I do is tailpipe the 510 atty. Don't get me wrong, I love the BB and the tailpipe setup is working well for me. I like the smaller size of having just the atty on the BB but dripping can be a pain sometimes.

I'm using the blue 3.7 batteries from the altsmoke site and I got the KR808 to 501 adapter from there too which leads me to another question. Is anyone else getting round scratch marks at the positive connection of the batt and atty. Not really sure if its the 510 or the 808 adapter or both doing the scratching. I don't really care if it doesn't end up getting worse and affecting performance. I'll post a pic...

Should I take off the black spray I see at the end of the male threads and the base of the male threads as well? I see some spray at the base and will take care of that when I get home tonight. Just wanna know if the rest should be removed from the thread area.

I thought that I had fixed my weak hitting BB by cleaning the overspray but it didn't really help. There is good news though. It seems to work great at 6v! Almost like it's running at 5v. I just can't get it to work well at 3.7v at all. I'll try the acetone tomorrow.

Getting my 3.0v batts tomorrow so that's good to hear - think I'd rather be closer to 5v anyway.

My BB doesn't his anywhere close to as well as my *other* 3.7v mod, using the same batt and 510 atty. I cleaned the bejesus out of it but no luck. I actually get a stronger hit from my $14 3.7v passthrough with the inline battery. I think either the spring (gonna look around for a better one when I have the time) or the switch is holding it back.

That's exactly right. I love my SB AND my BB! The only reason I'd sell um would be to buy brand new of the same.

Sounds more like a bad battery to me. The battery may not be putting out enough current to satisfy the atomizer. Make sure when you have good contact with the charger terminals while charging the batteries.

I did the first initial scraping if the overspray and it helped a little, but until yesterday when i tried the acetone...OMFG! what a change! i really let it soak and scraped with a corkscrew to really get in there and its just amazing now! on 3.7 and 6V!!!!!8-o this just puts all my other PV's to shame, the SB, not included!

Well I used acetone as well and scraped the hell out of it but it still works like it did before. Love it at 6v, sucks at 3.7v. I wish I could test it under load but can't. I'll try cleaning and scraping some more.
