The point lobro1 makes is very important to understand. "3.7v" batteries as used in big battery PVs charge up to 4.2v and beyond. They also deliver that sort of voltage for the vast majority of the charge (as opposed to normal e-cig 3.7v batteries which drop down very quickly). Therefore the difference between a 3.7v and 5v big battery device may not be as profound as you think.

At one time the most important factor for "mod choice" was the atomiser it came with, but now adapters are readily and cheaply available. I have a SD which came as a 901 device, but I also use it with 801, 510 and 401 attys.

Although I'm an SD user, I think the things you need to consider for any big battery device are: size, shape and button position (all entirely personal choices - I like bottom buttons and have a SuperSix coming), then voltage, then atomiser choice...

Exactly the point and good advice...Prof Beard!!! You nailed it.

Every step you take to discover what you look for in your device is specific to your needs. I myself am a SD MKII user and that serves me well. I have had a 6V MOD and a 5V, only to find that I ran through juice quicker- sure that TH was more pronounced- 6v tasted like burnt s#%t IMHO, and 5V( to Me) was not that much different than 3.7, even though the juice in my 3.7 SD @ 510 lasted 2.5 times as long as the 5v, also at 510.
I sold my 6V but still use my 5V from time to time... simply because I really enjoy Juicy fruit and spearmint flavor in the 5v... and since I mix my own juice and those two flavors I can find very cheap.. I do not mind( even at 0 nic or no nic, whatever).
So, of course it is your choice and curiosity but.. I would seriously compel you to not bother going to 6v... 5v maybe.. and bat MOD 3.7 never hurts a thing.

5v is perfection. Great throat hit, vapor and flavor. 3.7 is good but not as good and 6v is a bit too much.

So if I am lookin for an upgrade for a 510 so that I get longer battery life; lots of vapor and it is easy to drip (long times without filling) with an emphasis on vapor, drippin and flavor - not throat hit - have to use only VG so then what about the Prodigy v2?

I have never seen the high test models - only pics or videos.

What do you think?

I'm a fan of 5V vaping but I should specify that I use the prodigy V1 with a 801 atty. You may not need more than a 3.7v to power a 510.

I'll I put my vote in for the Prodigy V2 for 5v 801 vaping.
Actually I just put my money where my mouth is and bought one they started shipping this week.

I have a Prodigy 1 but don't like the bulk and don't like that the switch is unreliable.

The V2 uses the mechanical switch so that should be fixed and since I only will use it at 5v the lack of flexibility doesn't matter. After I've received the V2 I'll check back in with a update.

We did a video - but I won't post the link here in this thread because it will blow it up.

But, we also made a list of all our devices loaded voltage found here:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-device-under-load-prodigy-other-devices.html

Nice, thank you. Actually, after I asked the question I found the numbers on the PS site.

So, to the OP: It's a choice between 3.7V and 5V...and I think you'll be happier at 5V. (or you could get the Xhaler for 3.7V, 5V, 6V, 7.4V! for less money than either)

Both $100. Both about 5v(?), dunno which to get.

With the screwdriver I get 2 attys, but theyre 801 attys. With the V2, I can use 510 attys, which i already have.

So I guess it all comes down to which one works better...so...can I get some tips from the experts?

If you go to a higher voltage Prodigy v2 does the standard 510 atomizer work or do you need to get a better one? I don't want to blow my attys by stepping up beyond their capacity . I also don't want a strong throat hit - just flavors.

the 510 reg atty works fine at 5v with the prodigy..
TH is going to depend on juice more than just voltage.
Id say youre going to get a lot of th so you might want to go with a 3.7 device. Any HV mod is going to give a lot of TH for the most part.

Actually the Prodigy v2 is cheaper than than the xhaler. (less expensive)

Not if you use the coupon code.

The "base" price for the Prodigy is 69.99 plus 26.99 for 4 batteries & a charger. The base model Xhaler is 75 + 18 for 2 batteries & a charger. TrueVapor charges more for shipping but I believe both give free shipping for orders over $100.

The Prodigy V2 doesn't do 3.7V or 6V. It does, however, have the option of getting a 510 adapter in the base model, where the Xhaler includes tips for 801's & 901's.

All that said, and as much as I love my Xhaler, because I use 5V almost exclusively (I like being able to bump up the voltage when the battery drains, tho) I'm strongly considering the purchase of a Prodigy--but I'd like to learn the voltage under load on the GLV first. However, my next purchase is likely going to be some 3.7V batteries, a blank spacer and some HV atomizers. If I get the Prodigy or the GLV, it'll be for my disabled roommates who would be better off with single mode operation rather than the multi modes of the Xhaler. The next mod I get for myself will either be a Chuck (if it turns out I like HV attys at 6V) or a Juice Box--much more likely since it also includes customization and I want to try Mr. Coffee (automatic drip) vaping.
