Would like to put all the ProdigyV2 info here in one place.

I'm truly interested in 5V and I'm shopping now (the fun part).

to mean two 3.0v batteries with no resistor. Isn't that what the original Prodigy without the resistor would do under load (depending on the atty)? Or are you still working with different materials to see if you can get something reliable to provide resistance?

If no resistor is used, the 3.7v 17650 batts are very close in size to two CR123s for anyone that wants 1800mah at 3.7v.

How similiar are 17650/17670 batteries to RCR123a's ? Is a single cell 17650 a bit shorter? fatter? skinnier?

RCR123s are 15mm diameter by 27mm long. 2 would be 15mm x 54mm
17650 are 17mm diameter and 65mm long. So a little larger diameter and 10mm longer than 2 x RCR123s.

All measurements are approximate. I've seen/heard them go ~0.6mm more diameter, and up to ~1.5mm longer than those.

We don't have that much room to work with. Tolerances are EXTREMELY close in the new Prodigy. If we would have left room for a 65mm long batt (like the 18650), it would have simply stayed the same size!

Like I said, the dimensions are very close. As in the same.

we need that -.05mm Tolerance on the ID ... To be more specific, ID of tube is .665 which divided by .03937 nets you roughly 16.891xxxx MM It would really really be a close fit

Go unprotected like the Protege or do .5 mm of honing. Or both.

Oh dang, I was wrong about the RCR123 sizes. They are 16340s, so 16mm diameter, 34mm long.

Sorry about that - I was thinking CR2s.


Doesn't matter, though - you'd need 17.5mm ID to fit most - not even all - 17650s.
