Hey Guys,

Seems like this question is raised A LOT ... We have it posted in 2 different areas on the site, but it doesn't seem like enough :D So, lets go ahead and go over it here.

PureSmoker.com stays live 100% of the time. That means, when a product is out of stock, the option for it will disappear. Although the "In Stock" Status may still appear and say that it is, when options disappear, its actually not. Sorry this may be confusing for some, but its our only way to keep backorders to a minimum which in turn, allows clients to know what we have 100% of the time, so they know what they order will infact ship!

Now, to explain WHY it *may* still say "In Stock" when it essentially is NOT in stock.

When working with product codes, there is something called a *Parent* and *Child* product. Lets use CaSH Menthol juice as an example.

CaSH Menthol juice *Parent Product*

10ml - 36mg *Child Product*
10ml - 24mg *Child Product*

When 36mg is out of stock, that option will disappear, and you will only see 24mg. Now, when 24mg disappears, yet you still see
CaSH Menthol juice it means we have ziltch/nada/nothing ...

Now, I can go in and personally Change the Parent Product to read "Out Of Stock" when there are in fact NO selections, however, we cancel roughly 20-25 orders a day, and when an order is canceled, the stock contained within that order than free's up again and is automatically re-added. Thus, if the product option says *Out Of Stock* but a child product is re-added, Live Inventory shuts down and those bottles of juice are ordered over and over and over again.

So, with that said. To stay 100% live (through order processing/cancellations/re-add's) and not succomb to backorders or multiple product purchases that we don't have in stock, we will continue to use the method we currently use ...

Hopefully that explains it, and I didn't just confuse you more ... :D

That should explain it very clearly for people that did not get it before. I, for one, like this system because I know that if I can select it, THAT MEANS ITS IN STOCK AND NOT GOING ON SOME BACKORDER, and IF I CAN NOT SELECT IT, THEN IT MEANS YOU ARE OUT OF STOCK ---So thanks Steve as your system works great and is in real time-----Sun

When an item is listed in stock and has children, could you not have the script check the status of the children in code and only display product if a child has 0> items?

It would remove a ton of the confusion and still allow your site to be 100% live.

I agree.

If I pick a product, and it says "In Stock" I expect it to be, you know, In Stock, not have to start selecting from drop downs and not getting any choice to select. At first I thought I was doing something wrong, not logged in etc... before I read somewhere else on this forum that if you can't select from the drop down, it's out of stock.

It is very confusing if you don't know how to work the system.

I had went to the website today to order more Cash's Cola....... I ran out & am having withdrawls here. I tried all afternoon to order, sent an e-mail off to see "why I couldn't select a bottle size or nic level", so now I know.... When do you think the Cash liquid will be back in stock? I tried several flavors & can't find any in stock.

Thanks,
Teresa
:p

If Steve puts that kind of information out, he'll have a "Black Friday" on his hands.

People will actually take off from work or school just to sit infront of their computers and wait for these juices to be back in stock. :D Constantly refreshing their screens every 5 minutes. Now that what I call ADDICTION.

That's what I did (and many others) before and after the move from California to Tenn.

I need juice also. Starting to run low.

Rumor has it (from another thread) that they will have more stock by this Friday.

we should have enough stock to last at least a day or 2. but we will be adding just as much as the last batch which was over 1000 orders so I wish you the best of luck.
It's hard enough getting the vaporizers in the states now so we are trying to order and keep shipments at a low cost just in case they do get seized and then we are out all the money it cost to ship it and all the product that was shipped.

So you can see where are dilemma is right now. Trust us if they were made here in the US then it wouldn't be a problem, but because we have to import it there are risks.

Its wonderful like others have said, it lets us know for sure if what we want will be delivered timely. I have to admit that I did read it on the site but I think we all know how hard it is to need a battery and be attempting to order it when it says "in stock" and the drop down never appears--I felt I was doing something wrong also even though it was posted on the site that this would happen.

I think its more the shopper's desire for the product clouding the reasoning that we were told already that this would happen.

:) Works well though, and keeps customers more satisfied even if they are frustrated they can't order. At least we arent paying for something that we are not being made aware is going on backorder--Most sites just take your money, put you on backorder & let you wait MONTHS for product which is ridiculous.

Ok, I sit corrected.

The system is superior to Tim, fine.

Most of the items I click, it will tell me, with an exclamation point inside a yellow triangle(after I've corrected the cookie problem, when there was none to begin with)that the item is out-of-stock--after highlighting the text so that I may read it. Ok. This happens a few times. Ok. Then, all of the sudden, it will allow me to go to the items menu, as if it is in stock but, alas, drop-down menu offers no selections, and it's not possible to proceed further because you get a message saying you have to select such&such light.

I want to be one of the people offering a favorable review (whose text, suprisingly, I don't have to highlight to read). But, as I am too stupid to utilize the system I will have to go do some crossword puzzles and play chess so my intelligence improves, that I may then be cognizant enough to work it.

Tim

PS - If I broke the rule of bringing up a topic which has already been posted, or of which the forum has listed advice about, please delete it. I would normally have deleted my original post by now, learning of my ignorance. But so many people have already replied, I feel this would be a slap in the face; provided we are allowed to delete our own posts.
