Kris... I hear you...

go to the ask the vets forum - or after a while you'll determine who is more "credible" to you etc...

lots of folks like the anonymity... you know... stalkers out there...

I'm not worried about stalkers though... I live in Delaware... no one comes here ;-)

It took me a while, but I started to determine who a handful of credible folks were... There are so many folks here... and you do have to weed through to find who you identify with... I'd suggest going into the supplier forums and see who is posting in your favorite supplier forum...

Kinda bugs me a bit too when people don't have a picture of themselves up, makes me wonder whats wrong with them that they wont post one.

I don't know about others, but nothing is wrong with me. I'm a nice, normal female who has been stalked in the past and is now super scared of posting a pic on a site where there are many strangers.

My avatar always speaks to a part of me, so that, and my posting style and content should be plenty for someone to decide if I'm a decent person, or not.

Kris, I'm glad you got through the night. It's a brand new day, so vape away and stay strong!

And jerry - nah I dont think thats always the case - depedns ont he person and their posts; you can usually tell shifty from a mile off lol (I hope that translates into american lol)

CaptJay, we use "shifty", in the same way, here in the Colonies. Besides, I really enjoy watching British comedy shows, so I think I'm learning to speak some English English. lol.

You're just afraid I'll stalk you!

I don't mind if you stalk me, Nora! lol.

I believe it was Carlos Castaneda who said, “To truly understand Someone, You must know Nothing of their Past.”

If I tell you things about myself aren’t you going to make assumptions about myself that May or May Not be true?

Awesome...! The stuff that Castaneda writes in "Journey to Ixtlan" you can live by...thx for the quote...:) One of my fav authors!

I understand your concern, but this isn't a kid's forum.

I can tell you, that based on some of the surveys on the forum and the members that I know, the majority of members are over 30 years old and up to the 60's.

No one that I know is here because they think e-cigs are "cool". The people here either are smokers, who are trying to use the e-cig to quit, or were smokers who have quit smoking using the e-cig.

I'm 60 years old and I smoked for 46 years. I quit smoking over seven months ago.
Boost that age of 60 to the 70's .....wouldn't part with my P.V.

Ok today is another day! And one way or the other, I'm sure that you survived the craving. I hope that all is well with you. Vaping is definitely a learning curve. You need to find out what it is that you were missing yesterday. Do you need a higher level of nic? More throat hit? More vapor? What would make it a more rewarding experience for you that would override the urge to have an analog? Questions to ponder.
Sorry - I've had a really bad day today. My cravings are getting the best of me obviously ! I just need credable people (been there type) who I can relate to to get over this big hurdle in my life.

Didn't mean to offend anybody . I need a smoke ! - and I'm going a little crazy at the moment !

I've known many a tech geek (heck for a time I was one, but then tech got smarter then me) that PREFERRED to be called by their handle offline.

That's funny because that's me. My user name here is an old database user name. Last name appended by first initial. I liked it at the time and started referring to myself and signing emails as IRWINK.

Feel free to visit my profile page, Sir. For some mysterious reason it has been visited over 6,000 times in the past year! There's nothing on that page of interest, I swear. Heck, there's nothing about me that is of interest either. Yet, it IS a popular hangout. LOL

But, I do hear what you're saying. If a new name pops up in the forum with detailed advice or a strong opinion, I too tend to visit that person's profile to try to figure out who it is that I'm talking to. The mods do a fine job of weeding out the scammers/spammers but when I read a GLOWING review on an item from someone who has never posted before or has only posted about that one specific item, it sends up a flag and I try to figure out if is a real opinion or just an advertising ruse.

And, other times when someone writes eloquently, makes me laugh or shows a great deal of intelligence I want to know more about him/her, so I visit their profile page. It's disappointing when the page is practically non-existent.

The writings of Carlos Castaneda had a profound impact on the way I perceived the world when I was young. It’s a shame that many people of the newer “generations” might not have had a chance to read some of his works.

Another thing that stuck with me was from “The Teachings of Don Juan”.

The four enemies of a man of knowledge are: Fear, Clarity, Power and Old Age.

I have started giving a bit more information in profiles the past few years, but before that I gave as little as possible. For me, I think it's a hold over from when I first started using the internet. Back then it was unusual to be a "girl geek". I had many times where someone would see from my info that I was female and would automatically assume they knew more than I did and argue their point even though I was wrong. Back then I also had trouble in computer stores with clerks trying to "take me for a ride", recommending things that I knew were unnecessary, so I guess to defend myself from all the stereotyping I started using neutral nicks and not posting pictures.

I still do not usually post pics of myself, though, because I have a really hard time with body image and think that I'm too ugly. Working on that, so who knows, I might post one one of these days.

I really do need to go back to my profile, though, and at least post a warning for people that read my posts that I tend to be quite verbose and also tend not to use paragraphs. If "brevity is the soul of wit", then I guess I'm "witless"

Interesting thread and good question.

This is the first forum that I've been on. I've been pleasantly surprised at how welcoming, fun and knowledgeable people are. I tend to go by the content of the posts, because you do get a sense of who seems to know what they're talking about and who to listen to.

I do have a bit of information on my profile, but no picture ( yet?). My avatar is a picture i painted and it probably says more about me than a photo would. Someone asked me if the information i posted on my profile is real. Yes, it is...but it you have to take that on trust, and from what I write. Not necessarily how i write it- cause writing clearly is a huge struggle for me (as is probably obvious) ;)

Oooh, a fellow artist! See I already like you! Loving your painting too - what mediums do you use?

I drew my avatar too (many moons ago) I chose mine as it respresents a lot of things about me - I created it from a photo that I took, it's Aussie, & it also represents my love of animals :)

Okay...totally jealous now! My artistic ability goes as far as drawing a crooked line!:(

After reading this thread I've realised how remiss I've been  so maybe I should update my profile with the following info :)

Female
21
5'9"
size 6
Millionaire.

And a pic of me
LU.jpg

Non of it's true mind you - well apart from me being female :D So even if someone did create a profile with lots of info, you may never be the wiser about who you are talking to by checking it out. Anyone could make anything up if they where that way inclined.

In any case as others have said. It's not about what people look like, their age etc - it's how they respond to others :)
