Just to clarify before I begin, none of this is knocking TV in any way. Their juices are fantastic, and this issue isn't with their juices, but rather myself and all juices in general. From anywhere. I promise TV juices won't make you sick :p

So anyways!

I've been having some issues since day one of buying from TV. I tend to order my juices three or four at a time, because I consider myself a heavy vapor (I'm vaping constantly, all day. My 1100mah battery can barely keep up most days.) However I seem to go through TV juices very slowly, which means that my juices all start to "go bad" in a way before I even finish a single bottle.

When I say "go bad", I mean the juice starts to darken and thicken. Along with this comes diminished tastes, and vaping it will often cause me stomach aches or other minor issues. Sometimes its enough to make me extremely nauseous for a few hours. I know this is probably VERY bad, but I'm not sure what to do. I'm assuming I'm just not storing my juices in the proper way. Honestly, I keep them all in my desk drawer for convenience and because I just can't find anywhere appropriate to let them hang out at.

So how should I go about storing these properly so that they won't "go bad"? Has anyone else even had this issue with the juices or is it just me?

EDIT: Hey, I'm an ECF veteran now! Cool! :D

Your post is making me wonder if you might have some health or allergy condition that you should isolate. I'm not saying this to try to defend TV or juice in general, I think what you are experiencing is outside the norm.

I would suggest consulting a medical professional, and also maybe keeping a journal of all that you are ingesting/inhaling throughout the day and maybe you'll be able to figure out what is causing you to feel sick.

Good luck to you, hope you figure it out and all is well! :)

Thank you very much! I do have quite a few allergies. No known food allergies though, lots of seasonal stuff. I really do believe its something with the way I'm storing juices, as when it happens I always notice the taste of the juices change, they darken, and they get thicker. However, I could be totally wrong. Thank you again for your response. I'll be sure to keep track of all of this and I think I'll be getting my allergies checked again, its been a while.

Cool, dark place out of direct heat and sunlight is all you need to do...no refrigeration required as it can lead to flavorings going bad (I know that sounds stupid but condensation is the culprit). TV juices only last about 10 months...read on their forum somewhere. They also have a tendency to upset my stomach also if I vape a lot of them.

Heh. Mine only last about a month it seems. Weird. Perhaps its my cartomizers?.. I recall having this issue still back when I used atomizers.

Hi Captain. The darkening of the juices is the nicotine darkening as it ages. There is no way to prevent this from happening. Oxygen, light, etc. are the culprits. How cool is the drawer you are storing your juices in? The cooler the better without refrigeration. I've personally never experienced the thickening of my TV juices, so this one has me stumped.

I wonder if your nic level is too high causing the stomach symptoms. I know sometimes when I've had a stressful day I've overdone it and made myself physically ill from vaping too much. Maybe you should try some lower nic juices and see if the physical symptoms improve. Good luck trying to figure it out, and let us know how it goes for you!

I've been vaping at 24mg steady now for a little over a year. I think my next order I'll try 12mg and see how that goes. Thanks!

I've just had a couple TV liquids go bad for the first time ever, but they're all at least 14 months old so the problem is entirely on my end, not Tasty Vapor's. Their liquids are quite stable, especially when you consider that they have no preservatives in them. The doublers last longer than the e-liquids. Whatever doublers I have left still taste fine. Also, the doublers don't get noticeably darker -- the nicotine is what causes that.

Thickening would have to be evaporation. I believe Geoff has talked about adding a drop of alcohol to thin out a liquid but I don't remember what thread it's on.

I think Cari's probably right about your reaction being too much nicotine. I started at 24mg and overdid it one night. It's very easy to take a few extra puffs when you are extra stressed or you really like a flavor. Once I went to 12mg, I never got queasy from vaping again. (At 6mg, I can chain vape when I'm in the mood with no problem.)

just get a doubler of the same flavor and mix them half /half. that will reduce the nic in half. :D
The problem with that is that it's very easy to end up overstocked unless you only vape one or two flavors (or have others to share your purchases with.)

Figured I would update this for anyone who cared. Turns out I'm an absolute idiot..

All the juices needed was a good hard shake and they're fine now. I guess I was letting them sit for too long without shaking them and they started to get darker and taste funny to me. After a good shake session they're fine.

I shudder to think of all the juices I've thrown out just because I never thought to shake them..

Glad you figured it out!

I know some people will disagree with me, but I have had juice from other companies in proper storage and unopened for over 2 years. When finally opened the juice it was as good as the first day I bought it (but a bit darker).

I have stored Tasty Vapor Juices for over a year and they always have been good when opened. I have never had a juice go bad yet (knock on wood).

Hmmmmm Capt.... maybe we are ALL absolute idiots <g>.

The question is, does shaking (vigorously but not excessively) affect the TV EJ in the opposite direction of steeping, or does it facilitate steeping?

I had the opposite experience with shaking that you had.

My first bottle of AC.... was great... was like a cinnamon flavor I had from another vendor but... had a candy taste also and I really liked the other flavor but... felt AC was better.

However, about half ways through the 60 ML bottle I finished the 6 ML bottle I had and made two more and... on the same atomizer I had been using... tasted really TERRIBLE. A really strong chemical taste.

Now, I had been storing my EJ in an unheated room over the winter and the temp in there was usually under 60 but on real cold nights it got down to almost 50 so I figured it musta got down to below 50 and that bottle of AC went bad. This would have been strange and none of my other TV EJ had any problems.

So, I ordered a new bottle of AC. With this new bottle, the 'chemical' taste is still there, but not anywheres near as strong. More of an underlying taste.

Thinking about things a bit... my recollection is that the original candy... had this chemical taste, and THAT is why I stopped eating them when I was a kid (yeah, this goes back a LONG time). But, with AC, I have grown accustumed to it and maybe even like it a bit.

But, the question is, why on my original bottle did I get the chemical taste all at once and REAL STRONG?

Well, the other thing I did, was when I made up the two 6 ML bottles that tasted terrible, I shook the 60 ML bottle vigorously before making the 6 ML bottle.

So, what I am thinking now, is that I hadn't been shaking the 60 ML bottle at all and the chemical taste settled to the bottom and when I shook it vigorously, it all came to the top and that is why I got the chemical taste real strong.

However, I am not sure, and think maybe the vigorous shaking had a negative effect on the EJ and ruined it (yeah, still have that bottle and can try it again I guess... been over 6 months).

So, now when I make up new 6 ML bottles from the 60 MLs, I just turn the bottle upside down and back up a number of times. Trying to make sure nothing gets settled to the bottom but not shaking vigorously either.

Capt... from my experience the TV EJ keeps on steeping as time goes along.... usually you can taste the difference after a month or even longer. So, your EJ was probably not going bad just continuing to steep.

But, I am not sure I got a complete handle on all this so if anyone else has any profound experience with this, please enlighten me!

Thanks

P.S. I just store my TV EJ at room temperature now, and been over a year on some and no problem. Of course these are the doublers and I guess the major concern is nicotine going bad not the EJ itself.
