I don't know why I continue to be amazed about the utter lack of understanding of how the world works by Pols.
You are only eliminating tax revenue producing businesses in your state.
There is this new-fangled thing called the internet, it reaches everywhere, even outside of Oregon.
The USPS is nearly bankrupt, good luck getting them on board for enforcement, even if it wasn't the case that a federal agency has no requirement to enforce state or local laws.
Plus since the fines are levied on the providers not the purchasers, out of state or country distributors would cost the State enormous amounts of money to prosecute and collect from.

Well thought Oregon.

This is just horribly insane. I am very angry at these blooming control freaks. The people need to let their politicians know this won't fly. I would tell my state politicians if you vote for this, I will never vote for you again. That might not scare them, but at least it will wake them up out of their power hungry stupor. This is not an emergency. They always pass idiotic stuff under the veil of an emergency. This emergency turd is why we are in deep doo doo as far as debt is concerned. The play they use with words is disgusting. They must eat, sleep, and breath Saul Alinsky. I am fed up with this nonsense.

Seen the news from Indiana? At least as bad as Oregon. Indiana is as conservative as they come. That should tell us something about party politics. Remind me, which party wants to enslave us and which one wants us to be free? As long as they can convince us that there is a difference and we should be appalled by the wicked schemes of the other side, their well paid jobs and benefits are safe. And we waste our energy fighting each other.

If we can make enough noise about vaping they might change course. Or at least leave enough wiggle room that we can stay in business long enough to fight back.

I am on it! Rallyyyyy up

Also, Oregon residents should mail their senators. Here's a copy of the email I sent to Senator Steiner Hayward (a real letter would have been better than an email, but I wanted to respond right away):

Dear Senator Steiner Hayward,

I am a lifelong democrat who, like yourself, votes consistently along party lines. I am also a resident of your district, District 17. I was dismayed to learn that you are one of the sponsors of Oregon Senate Bill 415, which would make it illegal to sell flavored e-liquids or flavors used in e-liquids.

I was a smoker for 32 years. I tried most of the medically approved treatments to break that addiction, including gums, patches, and quitting cold-turkey. I always ended up returning to smoking. Then, last summer, I bought my first personal vaporizer with a delicious caramel macchiato e-liquid. Since then, I haven't wanted a cigarette. My last cigarette was on the drive home from the Portland-based business where I contributed to the local economy by buying their products. My intent when I bought the vaporizing device and e-liquid was not to quit smoking, because I was utterly defeated and convinced that nothing could help me quit. However, I was surprised to find that when I was vaping, I had no desire for a cigarette. vaping simply tastes better than smoking, and as long as it continues to do so, people will gladly switch from smoking to vaping.

Now, it seems that certain members of the Oregon Senate have decided that vaping should be as much like smoking as possible. Only tobacco and methol flavored e-liquids are to be available for adult smokers to purchase. This can only reduce the likelihood that current smokers will successfully transition to vaping, as I have done. It is ironic that in a state where it will soon be legal to buy an ounce of ........., it will be illegal to buy an ounce of strawberry flavoring, if your proposed "emergency" legislation passes. This legislation makes the Democratic Party appear to be out-of-touch with its constituency, and I find it personally embarrassing.

I urge you to reconsider this proposed legislation. It's bad for Oregonian business; it's bad for cigarette smokers who will be denied the opportunity to successfully transition to a less harmful alternative; it's bad for the Democratic Party; and it's bad for your legacy. Every week, more scientific evidence mounts that vaping is a viable alternative to smoking for many Americans. History will judge whether you are on the right side of this debate with SB 415.

Sincerely,
<Name>

I can Answer your Question!!!!!!!!

It is time people STOPPED selecting PARTIES and started evaluating each and EVERY individual seeking office at ANY LEVEL!
If you wish to change a party line of thought you darn well better put the right persons in that Party.

Law forces me to register party support. Mine reads Republican.
Don't get bent - I chose that to piss off any MD official that sees it. - This crappy state is full on Dem. Not that I mind. Some are good people. Some are just plain crooks - whats new!

As to real life, I support the PERSON best suited to fight for our Freedoms not legislating us into servitude, not the party. ALL to often this is still picking the lesser of two evils.

I would love nothing more than to see an actual balance in favor of Personal and Private rights........ Ain't gonna happen.:(

Where were each of you when mandatory seat belt laws were enacted, when the NSA began its surveillance, when calorie counts became mandatory, when the TSA and Homeland Security began to keep you safe, when safety and security for the children became the perpetual slogan of the government? It all seemed like a good idea, it kept us safe, didn't it? Conceptualize this: every good idea need not become law. Good ideas are better lived, not legislated.
If a regulation or tax did not affect you directly only affected the other guy adversely, you said what?. The stand taken by all of us should come from a fundamental understanding that there can be no freedom unless government is constrained All intrusion by the government, regardless of reason, should be viewed with great skepticism. Now, the government comes for you, you squeal and no one cares.

I'll bet you that most people aren't even aware that vaping is in danger. ECF has 238,279 members but last I heard CASAA only had 20,000 something members. Maybe Robin has an updated number. All somebody has to do is sign up with them. It's free. Donations are much needed but not mandatory. I wonder how many on this thread are CASAA members.

From their webpage: ,CASAA has over 27,000 registered members*
Not sure when the last time it was updated *Updated September 2014*. It has to be more now. We NEED it to be a larger number for sure!

    <~~ Raises hand.
The irony is that I'm 73 years old, and probably already have everything I will ever need to vape for the rest of my life.

Guess everyone in Oregon will have to buy unflavored e-liquid & use "unsafe" flavorings found at the market. (bet they never thought of that while thy were writing up their silly laws)

And how much money do you think the pharmaceutical companies and ANTZ groups give the FDA?
Not even half of what they need to keep the doors open...
I didn't read this entire document, nor did I spend hours searching for the best or most current resource...
    Addressing the FDA

But I thought I'd throw it out there as food for thought...
User fees, originally representing about 30 percent of the FDA budget, now make up more than 50 percent, and PDUFA IV authorization may cause that figure to rise to as high as 80 percent or more.
