I was a chain smoker. But I've been vaping for almost 2 years. I'm now a chain vaper.
Ditto. I started out at 30 mg and worked my way down to 24mg, but that was with old timey gear in 2009. Once I acquired bigger and better gear, I had to cut down to 18, then 12. I hover around 10 mg at this point. I'd be thrilled to get down to 6mg. Not sure that will happen, but we'll see.

$4.50 for cigarettes? They are more than $13.50 per pack here in Chicago. At a pack a day that is a $5,000/yr habit. No way you are going to spend more vaping...nowhere near that.

Pack of smokes went up to over 15 bucks a pack here. I occasionally ask at the local 711. With 2 of us smoking we were chained to a almost $700+ a month habit and did it for years. Now with me rebuilding and making juice our vape cost is less than 20 bucks a month not including the initial investments on gear I've spent over the last 3 years and still spending.
The biggest pro for us is that we just channel the extra money into something different...first a brand new 2012 Terrain, traded it off for a new 2015 GMC Canyon (it was a lemon) then traded the canyon for a brand new 2016 Chevy Silverado truck and still have ciggy money left over to buy fuel. A new vehicle was way out of our reach since we needed the cash to buy smokes so quit smoking and have some new toys.

If you are a new vaper my advice to you is to get the very very best battery and atomizer you can afford. I would have saved so much money if I would've just spent the $200 it takes to have a decent set up in the first place.

I think having to experiment some is inherent and it doesn't seem necessary or even desirable to spend that much at one time. I can see a new vaper budgeting for prebuilt coils for a while and service could be worth paying for if it's actually good. I've found myself questioning the advice too much to go that way though. And cheap.

I only spent about $50/mo. on smokes (RYO) and my vape average has only recently dropped below that. DIY+DIY is more clutter than RYO was although less work overall.

Pros; price, aesthetics, vaping company, odour, cool forums, flavours, last but not least: HEALTH improvement

Cons; Another obsession of mine, finding space for all this gear, getting ejuice on clothes and furniture (so annoying) and battery's only going for a max of 3000 mah (I think) Boo

    There is one clear winner.

My biggest con of vaping are holiday's. Not everywhere i go has an abundance of vaping stuff. Which means i have to bring all the stuff with me. In the old day's with cigarettes it was so easy. Now i bring, liquids, tools, wire, wicks, batteries etc etc... pff.. These day's i'm stressing at customs.. like i'm bringing some.. well you know what.

I really hope politics and whoever will finally be "ok" with vaping one day.
