I've had a few protank minis that I've had for about 5-6 months now. I just went to refill one and it seems like juice came out the mouth piece. Is this common? does this mean it went bad and I should trash it? Never had this happen.

Most likely you've just got juice down the pipe leading to the mouth piece. This can happen either through accidentally overfilling it or because of condensation of juice from vaping. Both are very common.
It's not a problem that should require trashing the unit, just take it apart and clean the tank piece in warm water (with juice removed). From the age of the tank, you have the first version, so there is no separate mouth piece to remove and clean.
