hello ecf.

I have a ProTank II in my rotation along with my AeroTank (which I am a huge fan of). Occasionally my ProTank II gives me some issues though...

I noticed that sometimes when it gets to about halfway full, I will get some gurgling and flooding issues which lead to juice in my mouth and/or little to no vapor/hit. I was out all day in the heat, and was wondering if that was contributing to the problem, but sometimes it happens even when im indoors. Usually I just burn the coil without hitting it to vape away some of the excess juice, and it will get back to working like normal. Other times, it will leak out of the bottom and onto the my battery. Its rather annoying, and I know that other people have mentioned the exact same problem. The grommet is not flipped upside down, so the flooding is not due to that (I used to flip it, but honestly I noticed that just letting the juice sit in the tank for a bit before vaping does the trick). Any suggestions? It would be really annoying to have to fill it every time it gets halfway down...

Don't know what could be going on with your PT 2, Shurpacabra. I've got and have had for the past 7 mos. 6 PT 2's both sizes, and nothing has accurred like you discribed. I vape them all the way down without any leaking. Make sure you're tightening the heads/coils tight. That's about all I can think of right now, and I'm assuming you're not rewicking or recoiling.....yet. ;) Am hoping someone with a lot more experience will come along and clear this up for you.

Lived three years in Parke Crossing before moving to Chattanooga back in the late '80's. Loved every moment of it. :)

I get a gurgle very seldom. When it happens I take a pipe cleaner and insert it down the tip and swirl it around to get the excess e-liquid out of the chimney ( even do this while it's attached to my APV ).

Don't stick a q tip down it.....heard some people lost the tip in the chimney.

The Kanger Airflow Control Valve works wonders on Protanks -

Kanger Airflow Control Valve - Protank II, Protank 3, Aerotank

Good Luck to You.

removing condensation and excess fluid ;
for this exercise the amount of fluid in tank does not matter

up-side-down, unscrew base
find a place to stand open tank up-side-down (hardest part)

holding base w/ coil installed in hand
wipe off chimney post, then blow thru it...

then get a q tip (pull some of the cotton off of it, so to fit)
then run it down inside the airway in the center of the tank...

re-assemble and vape face off...
total time is like 30-40 seconds, simple qwik

My PT2 tanks were super finicky and required constant futzing with. Replacing the original base with the aerotank base made them into reasonably good tanks.

Pretty much cured every problem you describe

yeah i sometimes use my aerotank base with my PT2.. love that they are interchangeable. being able to control the airflow is huge!

When I have problems with my PT2s it is usually a coil. I have about 15 coils that I rebuild in rotation for 2 protanks and a few Evods. When one starts to gurgle changing the coil always fixes it. I haven't had any luck with blowing through them into a napkin, it just empties the tank. I will draw very softly for a few hits until it stops, until I can change the coil.

ive considered the coil to be the problem.. but it only happens when the tank gets low, then i can fix it and it works again which leads me to believe the coil isn't the true problem. i do have plenty of backups so ill look into it and troubleshoot some more. i definitely know what you mean about losing all your liquid when you blow through the tank though...

I've seen lots of cool stands, but none (so far) that will hold the tank upside down while I fill it. Does such a thing exist? I'm trying to figure out how I could make one.

no worries. you could probably make one out of a tuning fork or something, just attach it to a rod and a base. there are more ghetto ways to do it for sure haha. ive never really had a problem just holding it but that would be interesting. ive been wanting to make a stand for my battery and tanks to display... and that just inspired a new thread. thank you!

Yep, that's the fix. Can be had for about $5. Yanking that nasty silica out and replacing with a bit of cotton will help a bunch too.
