Lower resistance means you can push more voltage through the atomizer. This usually equates to more flavor and vapor. It's a trade off. Low resistance equals shorter battery use between charges. Higher resistance means longer battery life, but flavor and vapor take a hit. It's all personal preference. :)

funny you mention that. i am now realizing it really does depend on the juice! like you i'm using anywhere from 3.6 - 4.2 now what would be the advantage of using a lower ohm coil if any when you can adjust voltage? is there even one.. i can't see one but, im pretty green still ;)

On a 2.5 ohm coil, I usually run at around 4.5 to give me an 8 watt output.

Is there a reason to run a low ohm coil on a VV/VW device? No! It just ends up using more of your battery to produce the same results.

Example: Running a 1.8 ohm coil at 3.8 volts gives me a desired output of 8 watts, but uses 2.2 amps to produce that result. Running a 2.8 ohm coil at 4.8 volts gives me a better result of 8.2 watts but only uses 1.7 amps of power. End result, longer battery life.. ;)

Personally? I've never really noticed that much of a difference between using a 1.8 Ohm head vs a 2.5 Ohm head (other than killing my batteries quicker). It's probably why my 1000mAh Twists only last for about 4-5 hours of heavy vaping. I get a good day's use out of my 18650s (2000mAh) with 2.5 Ohm heads in the Protanks on the Vamo.

I liked the Protank at first. Looked great, made of glass. GLASS! Finally!

I found the draw to be way too airy, had little to no resistance. Plug a hole or two and that fixes that.

What was the kicker for me was the excessive gurgling and leaking down the center post when I was around 15-20% capacity remaining. It would always be a little spot of juice or maybe a good 5 drops worth.

Tried removing the flavour wicks, nothing. Tried adding my own fat Ekowool on a new coil, nada. Tried different heads and same thing.

Must be a design flaw. It is a bottom coil with a hole that goes straight down to the post. You'd think someone would see this as a potential issue with the whole gravity thing.

It's in my parts drawer now never to be seen again. So much potential but (to me) it was just garbage.

I rebuild/replace my coils every two to three days (I used extracted tobaccos) because cleaning takes longer than replacing. I used 3mm silica, and 32gauge wire.

Did you used to take long hard draws on the PT when vaping? I think the leaking/gurgling issue is more apparent depending on how hard of of a pull you take on it, being bottom coil and all.

I very rarely experience it myself and I've had mine going for 3 months or so now..

Running a Tatroe and a 24 kanthal 5-6 wrap coil with cotton wick. 0.9-1.0 ohm. Roller with a 14500 aw imr. Sits nice and flush on the roller. Draw is just right. No leaking! Big clouds! I'm a happy camper. I did just order some more bases. I read somewhere here on ECF about the bases breaking fairly easily so didn't want to take any chances. They are cheap from the kanger site, ($1.00) but the shipping is a ..... ($17). What the hell, $30 investment in bases and i can keep this Pro/Tat thing going for a long time! No burning wick yet, I add a very small flavor wick on top of the coil. Going to have a few beers tonight and put this build through it's paces. I'm brutal on a coil/wick when i have a nice beer buzz going! Brutal beer buzzed vaping must be done for the positive advancement of vapeing technology. That's my story and i'm sticking to it!

I'm having the same issues as others. With a new head, the thing works great. For about 2 tanks worth. Then things start going south. It floods and gurgles. Hardly any vapor comes out. Even after removing the top wicks and cleaning it, it never works the same way again. I understand that these heads are disposable but I expected to get more than 2 tanks worth before having to chuck it out.

I dunno if it's the juice, PG/VG ratio or the fact that it's dark. I always use a 50/50 ratio and maybe it's just too thick for these things. Either way, it's not great.

I went back to my nova for out-and-about vaping. I gave the protank three days, but I guess I'm not a fan of a cooler vape. I also found (like many others) that I had to remove one of the top wicks in order to get a good flavor with my daily juice. However... that led to gurgling and lack of vapor.

I don't have that issue with the nova, and I don't have to drag as long to get a good vapor cloud, so I went back. Perhaps I just prefer a top coil clearo. I ordered and iClear 30, gonna give that a shot.

I've had my ProTank going for about two weeks now. I had some gripes in the beginning, but none of them dealbreakers and some have become non-issues after a few days of use. Ended up grabbing a second one yesterday.

I'm getting great flavour and huge puffy clouds with a 50/50 mix, no messing around with the top wicks needed. The coil is still going strong, no burnt wicks, cleaning is a breeze (and you can dry it easily with a little paper towel if a thorough air-dry isn't convenient) and has an even cooler hit than other plastic BCCs I've tried (something I prefer).

I do find it lacking for higher VG juices - strangely, I've found the T3 outperforms the ProTank for 70% VG juice. This prompted me to try removing one of the top wicks... lo and behold, the gurgling and leaking issues reared their ugly head.

Bone stock, she's a solid performer and quite versatile. I can see how it won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I would think that would be a common thread for wide-body BCCs in general.

Oh, and as a final note, I've noticed the flavour does get better over the first few refills. I'm theorizing here, but I think the steel and glass needs a little bit of "seasoning" as there's a kind of sterile flavour imparted on the vapour right out of the box.
