I actually put my PT on my MVP last night while on this thread. I seem to tell a difference and its performing well. Hmmmm....

I wonder if it is an airflow issue somehow. I run my PT on a vamo but I use a 510 to 510 adapter on the vamo to protect the threads. I wonder if that has something to do with the good performance I have had from the PT.

I have 3 original Protanks, a Davide, and a PT2... All of them perform well on all of my devices (MVP1, Tesla, MVP2, VTR). I've tried the T2, the T3, the iClear16, the iClear30, and the iClear30S, and have not been impressed with any of them. Since I got the VTR, I have been using the Davide almost exclusively on it, and luckily have never had much trouble with the bottom coils... they perform well for me with stock heads with one flavor wick removed, and even better rebuilt with 2mm ekowool. I struggled with cartos for 4 years when I was using 808 stick batteries, so I have resisted carto tanks thus far. I am so impressed with the performance of the bottom coil format that I have set aside my handful of RDAs and Genesis-style tanks.

I prefer to use the mini pro tank 2s. Acually, it's the only tanks I use anymore besides RBAs. For best of luck, always pull the rubber piece up on the shaft of the kangertech head before putting it back on the tank. And don't over tightin the bottom base onto the tank. Just my 2 cents

Yeah, I like my Mini PT2. But the COILS do seem to have some issues occasionally. I'll be boiling / drying HEMP tonight in prep to start recoiling my own for more consistency.

Rebuild the Pro Tank coils. It's very easy, cheap, and provides a vape much better than the factory coils. There are many youtube instruction videos on how to do it.

Yep.

I had put my protanks away in favor of gennys and Ithaka clones but after finding this article i have revived all my protank 2s and evods....

Vertical micro coil surrounded with cotton. Functions almost exactly like a mini carto with cotton. With 28g kanthal at 12 wraps comes out to 2 ohms. I can crank it up all the way to 15 watts with no issues. Try that with the stock heads. Vapor and flavor are top notch

Oh, one of these days I'm sure I'll finally soak and recoil/rewick all the stock heads and make them work so I can use them again. I just haven't had the patience to deal with them lately...lol

They're still nice little tanks. Carto tanks are just easier these days.

I will admit the process is slightly tedious but once the coil is in the head then swapping out the cotton is easy. 28 g will last a good long while.

Not to mention enjoying the bragging rights that your protank can handle 5-7 more watts than 99% of the normal vaping worlds PTs

I'm sure I couldn't be bothered to brag about anything...lol The only reason I ever mention what I have is to help other people decide what to get. I've also been known to be wrong on occasion as if I mention something working great for me it will then FAIL to be great for me.

Like children will always keep you honest, so will your vaping gear. :D

Couldn't agree with this more! My wife and I owned three of the Pro Tanks, and have since given them away. The people we gave them away to have since stopped using them, and have gone to carto tanks.
One thing about carto tanks, in my humble opinion, is their consistency. To me, that is why I like them.

That said, I am using the Smok Aro, which is also a bottom coil setup, and I am in LOVE with it too. Much cheaper than the protank, and way more consistent.

I really like my PT2s and am hoping that rebuilding a coil tonight only adds to my happiness. I am also looking for carto tanks and found some I really REALLY like, but don't know enough about them to make the jump.
Don't be intimidated by them. They're way easier than they look.

I held off on trying them because I was worried about the learning curve, too, but it really wasn't difficult at all.

The best way to get a consistent vape from a Protank, I've found, is to put it in the holder with all my other Protanks and use my carto tanks.

Protanks look very nice as decorations and I'm done fighting with them.

Haha..I think that's why there is some tension between carto and pt users. We do secretly hate each other.

That would mean I hate myself...lol

For those looking for information on how to set up carto tanks, here is Batitude's blog where I learned how to do mine.

I am also a protank lover,
2x protank ones
1x protank v2,
At the beginning, i realyy most of the time hated the protank, new coil, cleaned coilt etc.. most of the time that damn burned taste ,
or gurgling ,

Since i recoil the orginal coils, im in love,
most of the time i make micro coils (1.8/2.0 ohm) and use it with bio cotton /silica /bamboo wick etc...,
with all of them i get realy good taste, and minimal burned taste,
I never use extra flavour wicks !
my allday vapors mostly 60/40 or 50/50 (pg/vg).,

By the way with non recoiled coils, good taste too, (not often but sometims burned taste )
because the micro coils is stronger and easy to switch the cotton/bamboo i prefer micro coils.

(and excuse for my English )

Quit it, you guys are scaring me. I just received my first PT2 in the mail on Saturday. So far, so good but still on the factory coils. I've got some AWG 30 Kanthal coming along with some Ekowool and SS mesh. The plan is to rebuild when the time comes. I'm not a quitter but do know when it's time to cut my losses and move on. I hope it works out for me as I hate to waste money on stuff that doesn't work. I've got an AGA-T2 coming and look forward to that challenge as well. I started out on cartos and tanks and can always fall back on those should the PT2 and AGA-T2 fail me. Wish me luck :)
