Then take the simple route. Get a 901 adapter for your protege and a 901 cartomizer adapter as youtube is doing.

Okay I found the 801 to 901 adapter and I saw how to fix it.Just cut 4 slit like air holes in the top.Think it will work?? Any opinions??

If you have a 901 adapter, all you need to do is drill a single very small hole at the base of the threads. I've done this with several 901 batts and it works great with kr808 carts - as long as the cart has the small slot in the center battery post. Most of them do.

This will NOT work with the greencig carts or kr808 carts without the slot. For that you would need to try the slits. Might work but a good chance of ruining the threads and/or breaking the center batt post on the adapter.

The carts I have DO have slots across the center post.So theyll work with the hole at the base of the threads??I think I get it. Im going to order the 801 to 901 adapter and try that.

I don't know why not, it works fine with the actual 901 batteries. Drill a small hole - between 1mm to 1/16 inch. Start smaller and work up until you get the draw you want. Make sure when the bit (use a sharp one!) goes through the outer ring that you don't hit the center post too hard. Oh, and make SURE you clean ALL the filings out or you'll short everything out. I used a sewing needle to get most of it and then compressed air.

maybe PS should just sell an 808 protégé…

I have been considering purchasing the protégé for use with cartomizers. I understand that it is possible with adapters to make this happen, but would be much nicer if it was already outfitted this way. cartimizers a short, and it would be ideal not a add any height to the overall PV..

I may still order one, but will find a way to modify the standard 901 to work without any added adapters.

Yes,, you can use cartomizers with the 901 adapter. At first mine fit fine but now they don't want to thread onto the adapter anymore. Maybe a different type of cartomizer is causing the trouble.

You do need to put an airhole in. I used a very small nail and a hammer to put a hole in it..worked for me:p

You put a hole in what? The side of the cartomizer? And if so where did you put this hole? I would think it would need to be in the part where the threads are. And this doesn't seem like a good idea unless I am missing something here... Pictures would be helpful here..

And I agree that all 901 adaptors need to be slotted to work with cartomizers from now on. With the growing popularity of the carto it would be helpful for this option to be available to us. hint hint Steve.. lol.... I would really like to use my Protege with cartomizers but don't want to add any length to it with adaptors and stuff like that.
