Sorry if this has been asked, but will the Prodigy batteries charge in the Protege charger? It looks to be nice and solid, and I realy like the sprung negative contacts. BTW...just received my Protege! Hope it vapes as good as it looks!

No, they are not compatible. The 3.0 volt Prodigy batteries shouldn't be put into the Protege charger because that charger is designed for 3.7 volt batteries.

Thanks. Since it is called a "multi-function" I was curious. I think mine is broken anyway...the lights are still RED. After a full 20 minutes! Wait, let me check again...yep, RED again! Wait...no, still RED...ad nauseum

I hate to hear that. I ordered an extra one of those chargers just the other day. I'd hate to be down because of losing a charger.

It is called a multifunction charger because it will charge almost all sizes of the different 3.7 volt batteries. You know 10440, 14500, 18650 ... you get the idea.

Altsmoke sells the Trustfire model TR-001 multi-function charger that we use and claim it will charge cr123's as well. The charger will fit all AAA and AA size 3.7 volt.I don't think Rob would say it if he hadn't tried it out for himself.

Well maybe I'm wrong. I have that charger but I didn't think it would work with the 3.0 volt batteries. It will charge the 16340's which are the same size physically but run 3.7 volts.

Like many of the China products there appear to be different versions of the same model charger. Here is a link to one version of that charger that does state that it will charge the cr-123's:

DealExtreme: $8.81 TrustFire All-in-One Charger (for 10430/10440/14500/16340 /17670/18650/CR123A)

So I don't know which one I have but it looks identical to the one in this picture. There is another Trustfire TR-001 that is grey in color and doesn't mention the CR-123's. Your guess is as good as mine as to what is going on and what works with what.

I forgot one important fact. The batteries that ship with the Prodigy are LiFePO4 batteries and they do state that you should only use a charger specifically for that type of chemistry. I knew there was a good reason not to do what he asked. Sorry for my confusion.

So I cannot use my protege charger for my silver bullet batteries??

Depends on what type of batteries the Silver Bullet uses? Lifepo4's or Li-Ion? And are they 3.7v CR/RCR's or 3.0v ?

Whoa!...I'm kidding!!! My charger is fine! I was just trying to be funny about my silly impatience waiting for the batts to charge for the first time. Lights turned green, all is good...actually GREAT!!! Not to open Pandora's Box, but I actually think I like it better than my Prodigy (and that is a little difficult for me to say for some reason). I was a little worried that a 3.7 device just wouldn't be up to competing with the Prodigy. No such worries now!

The batteries on the silver bullet are 18650 Li-Ion 3.7 2400mAh protected
The batteries on the protege are 14500 Li-Ion (Rated: 3.7v - 900mAh)

Hey Kat ... Yes, both batteries will charge on the charger you got with the Protege. They can charge 18650's without a problem. Warm while charging ??? hmmm ... don't think I have ever noticed. Just keep an eye on them :)

I've been checking the temp on mine so I'll know if anything suspicious happens later on. The 14500 batts barely get warm while charging. The charger itself gets slightly warmer, especially when charging both batts, but not hot at all.

So if I'm ever charging a 14500 and it gets toasty warm, I'll know I have a problem.

Thanks again Steve and Casey for such a great product! I'm lining up places and people where I can show it off this weekend :D
