I received my lengthened button for my mechanical witch today! I just had to make this thread to thank PureSmoker for taking care of me. The switch went from hardly working to PERFECTION! It's just as light and responsive as the tact switch now. I would recommend this switch to any protege owner. What are you waiting for!?!?!? Place an order!!!

I have to agree. I received two mech switches, one barely worked, one was completely nonfunctional. I assumed that only one was a shorty button and received a replacement for that one today. What a world of difference!!!!!!!!!!! It works beautifully.

I am hoping that I can get a replacement for the second one that I can clearly see is a shorty also. I am passionate about my Proteges again. Many thanks to PS and I also encourage others to get mech switches without worry.

I'm still waiting on my long button(s). I am using the "floss/adapter screwed out" technique to get mine to work. I was wondering, with the long button, are you able to screw the adapter all the way in snug and still get god results?

i can't quite screw mine all the way, but very very close now. if it is too tight, it is buckling the switch housing and won't allow the button to depress, so when tightening just make sure th button stays "level" and doesn't bend.

I don't know if I had the short or long or whatever switch, but I sent my whole unit back to Steve and he put the mechanical switch in for me and sent it back and it works perfectly now. The mechanical switch has made the Protege work the best it has worked. It does make the hit a tiny bit more than it was before on the old switch.

Now if I can just get this USB extenstion to quit tickling me!

assuming you mean zapping you, try taking the metal part that holds the whole thing in off. Rearrange the bare ends of the black ground wire so that they are all tight under the screw and out of the way. I was getting zapped, i think, due to the ground hitting the steel body of the protege. Not only am i nnot getting zapped anymore, by tightening the internal wires into place i no longer have an issue with having to push up on the usb cable in order to vape. Works great now. All you need is a screwdriver and some gumption.

Man, I can't wait for mine to get here.

Shipping is sloooowwww from US to Canada.:cry::cry: Never had any problems with Canada Customs though, so it's not all bad. Getting juice from China is apparently hit or miss. 100% success with PS products/juice. :)

Got my mechanical switch today. Had problems getting it to fire. Turned the aluminum posts this way and that and in different combinations with varying degrees of success. Button had to be mashed down HARD to get it to intermittently fire. I looked at the copper contact ring and saw that it wasn't cut perfectly flat on the side that was making contact with the aluminum posts. So, I removed the copper disc and flipped it over. The other side was perfectly flat. Slid the disc back onto the post and it fires much much easier now. I have one aluminum post with flat side up, the other with a round side up. Still needs some more time to get it to "seat" better, but my sore thumbs are getting a bit of a break now...lol.

I'll give it another couple of days to see how much better it gets.

I encountered another issue w/ my mechanical switch and opened a ticket, waiting on resolution. The new longer button is not the same diameter as the original button, thus the copper contact ring does not sit snug on it. I set my Protege down, button up, and evidently the copper ring sat on the aluminum contacts as opposed to retracting with the button. I only noticed when I smelled my atomizer burning up (literally).

Back to the tact switch...........
