I wanted to give a review on my early impressions of the Protege. I received mine yesterday and have been putting it to work. So here goes:

I did the initial charge with the batteries and charger as supplied in the complete kit. I had gotten a 901 adapter with the Protege, even tho I had never used a 901 before. I also had my adapters from my 510 and 801 Puresmoker PT lined up and ready to get their turns on the Protege.

First, the overall construction of this little device is wonderful. Solid feeling, not too heavy, and smaller than I expected. Threads work well and all adapters, including my old PT adapters fit, and worked. If I have any gripe at all it is that the upper edges on the button housing are rather sharp, and could stand to be filed down a tad...which I will do myself. But this is a beautiful piece with a classy finish, great looking PS logo etched into it and a knurled bottom battery acces cap. It will stand on end just fine, and it can be layed down without rolling off of your desk, Seriously, it is just perfect.

Now, time to vape.......I started with the 901 and it was simply heaven. Smooth and tasty with a great plume of vapor. I had never hit a 901 before so I was thinking...I should have been using a 901 all along!!!!

Quickly switched to my 510 adapter and a broken in 510 atty......sweet merciful crap!!! The hit was better than it ever was on a standard 510 manual battery. It gave a little bit of heat, without that sometimes burnt-bite that the 510 can give. And the vapor....SILLY!

Next, on to the 801. I like the 801, usually as my morning vape because its real....well....weak. Nice flavor, best of any of them, but on the weak side and generally doesn't satisfy me later in the day. But now with one of my 801 attys strapped to the Protege, it provided more vapor than it ever did off of an 801 battery. And it actually gave me just a little bit of throat hit, which standard 801 set ups never do.

I don't know which atty set up to go with, they are all terrific on this device. Consistant hit after hit. I used my Protege for about 2 hours last night while watching TV, and then for two hours this moning. It hadn't died yet, and was still hitting consistently, and I am a heavy vaper. But I just went ahead and swapped to my second battery and put the first one back on the charger. So, exactly how much life I will get from the batteries, I don't kow yet. But it already far exceeded what I would get form a 510 battery.

Bottom line, I am in heaven. I think I have found my mainstay device. Great job Puresmoker!

I have to agree with the 801. Coming from the Prodigy, the 801 on the Protege is a little weak. Just oredered my 510 adapter so hopefully that will put me back where I want to be. :)

I do have to say that the craftsmanship and quality of the Protege is much better than the Prodigy. Everything fits better, is cleaner an just appears more sleek. :)

Yea I went ahead and hit the Checkout button today after having that page up over ten times... lol... I just couldn't resist after hearing all the good reviews of it. I got the bare bones kit because I already have every adaptor made for the PT and a charger. Just had to order a few batteries which I got 4 shipped for 20 bucks. I think I will be selling the Screwdriver now... lol...

Off to the classified section to place my ad.

I LOVE my Protege with the 510. I had never used anything but 801 since I started vaping but when Steve said the 510 was good with the Protege I decided on 510 and I am not sorry. I got mine Saturday and since then I find myself reaching for the Protege more often then my Prodigy. I get a wonderful throat hit with my own menthol juice and so much vapor I still can't believe it's 3.7 volts. The batteries are lasting 10 to 12 hours each and I am a heavy vaper. Actually I haven't had a battery die on me yet. I change them out after 10 to 12 hours when the vapor drops off a tad! Amazing.....to anyone thinking about ordering one.....JUST DO IT. You won't be sorry....

Yea I had no trouble selling the SD. I put it in the classifieds and it was gone in under 10 minutes. I just got home from the post office and it is officially gone. Covered my Protege and batteries too. Plus a few extra bucks in the PP account to boot. I love this forum.. Everybody is very cool for the most part.

Now the giddy wait begins for MY Protege.. he he... I knew I was going to get one sooner or later.

Sorry guys, have used the Pro and agreed with you until yesterday...... Yesterday, I got my GG Transformer...... Nothing can compete with it and I've tried em all......

Apples and oranges, no possible comparison.

When the GG is nearly as small, then we can make the comparison. The Protege is intended for those who want as small as possible for convenience, without sacrificing any performance. I believe the GG Slim is the only one that comes close, but whooooa Nelly is there a huge price difference.

OK, I grabbed a fresh battery this moning around 8 AM, vaped on this thing all day as my primary, chain vaping device, and it never quit. Switched from my 801 to the 510 at around mid day. And when I got home I threw that battery on the charger just so it would be set for tomorrow, and tossed in my backup battery for this evening. Looks like a two battery rotation will EASILY handle my demands. That is crazy for such a small device. I am loving this thing! I think I can get rid of my bag-O-goodies that I have been carrying around with me everywhere. Bottle of juice and an alternate atty with me and I am good to go. Life just got much simpler.
