You tried RS Spares for push to make switches.

I used to work in an engineering background and we used to get most of our microswitches from RS.
Bear in mind our use for them would be 300 or so activasions per minute for 12 hours a day, and they would last for months.

rswww.com | Relays, Switches and Indicators

thanks for the link dude.. i am beginning to think its a hard part to buy on line.. more the kind of thing thats needs to be picked up and felt.. RS should have something suitable.. a bit tooo pricey to risk buying some just to try thow.. he he

but a nice action switch will break or break the thing.. it needs a lot of pressing duringa days use... he he

its too small.. but does beg the question of why someone (like ruyan) didnt make a cigar that does take a sensible size AA battery in the first place.. it would simply be a slightly fatter cigar with a decent run time.. but there really isnt anything sensible about these things when looked at closely..

we have toyed with lots of ideas.. even converting a pipe to take 901 (or loong totem) atomizers.. my son tells me nobody wants to look like sherlock holmes thow..

ps.. i didnt see the throw away bit.. i was referring to the none throw away cigar.. but our basic concept is fairly simple.. the main part dosnt wear out.. and as a point of principle it doesnt look like a tobacco product..

Tobacco leaves from cigars could be another option. OK, it might not be very strong but I don't care about that. bestecig.com sells similar at 15$ a pop so even if it didn't work out, you get decent value for your money.

BTW, digikey.com might have something.

that one looks alright for £2.80 though you could try source the chip alone from a factory in china that makes the batts

yes darcy.. we have some switches that look okay.. just waiting for some more bits and tools to arrive to knock up another five working examples..

i have been using the first one for the last few days.. it works..

we will try some different shaped and sized ones as we go along but the basic design idea seems to work nicely with no problems..

my liquid consumption is going up.. he he..

well bob the new tax payer funded $800bn bail out plan should fix things economy wise.. free market capitalism when the sun shines (on the money men) and a good dose of socialism to help em out when the bugger goes in.. he he he..

but i just received some of the pillbox "totally wicked" 36 mg liquid.. in the screwdriver it makes a pretty "wicked" combination..

at present it still has some e cig flue cured in it.. so its a mix of e-cig china flue cured 24 mg and totally wicked 36 mg cigar flavour.. at present the mix tastes quite nice with plenty of throat bite..

just an idea at the moment but it might become reality..

one 20 ml bottle of "totally wicked" liquid with a few empty carts.. .. one screwdriver with a couple of shiny 901 atomizers.. two chargers plus a couple of batteries..

purely for the nicotine addicted heavy smoking "swapper" type.. "placebo" types need not apply.. he he he he

forgive my humour it gets more "wicked" by the day..

i kinda hovered between the french pipe and cigar taste kit.. at present i am just reluctant to commit money to making the things cos i aint sure if people want them.. up front they have to cost more than the average generic.. but not having to keep replacing batteries should make longer term running costs much cheaper.. also if dripped much cheaper still.. more so for the heavy user than the lighter user..

i might stick one or two up for auction on ebay to test the water.. dunno..

trog

ps.. but as u say kit "a marriage made in heaven".. if jason likes the things he might get sole distribution rights.. all we would have to do is ramp up production and supply the bloody things.. assuming anybody wants em.. he he

Trog, I'm impressed! You did amazing work. Isn't it great when you get an idea and experiment and come up with something that actually works?! Love it. BTW, did you take some "nice" pills. You haven't been mean once during this whole thread. I really am impressed. Maybe you should think about applying for a patent.

interestingly i know of one place that would love screwdrivers in the UK.. psychiatric units..

trying to stop chain smoking mental health sufferers from adopting a permanent station on the roadside "off the premises" must be very hard for the staff..

i would guess there is a lot of rule breaking currently going on.. just to keep the staff sane if not the patients..
