So based on your poking around with the innards, There was some mention of "unplugging" the battery when the time came for replacing it. What did you find out? Is stuff just "glued" to the inside to keep it from rattling? Does the batt look easy to replace?

I didn't completely take it apart so I didn't really get a look at the battery area, but it looks like if you take the top and bottom plates off, the whole case will come apart in two pieces, which means it will be easy to work with, and should be pretty simple to physically change out the battery, not sure yet how the "clips" work though.

Regarding how stuff is kept in place inside the enclosure, it looks like the DNA20 is protected and held in place by some black foam/rubber material, the only glue I saw is what you see on the housing of the fire switch, but without taking it all the way apart I can't say for sure.

Could you tell if there is a chance liquid could get to the dna board from the 510 connection?
From a flooding incident.

I don't think it would be likely, the 510 itself seems totally air-tight including the outside of the 510 into the top, and assuming the screws are in tight, I don't think it will really make it in there, and if it did, it would be directed down the corners of the enclosure, away from the board.

I kinda think the glue on the fire button might be to seal up that area too, so that any leakage cant come in the crevices around the button.

I will take it totally apart sooner or later if no one else does, heh.

Careful there Cowboy, don't wreck it... lol. At least it isn't one of those $533 (WE) Titanium wizards... Wow are they pricey...

Did you try swapping out the clip for the shim? since it looks like the 510 connector is permanently mounted to the top plate just wondering if there are quick disconnects or something similiar?

Yea I removed the belt clip, though I kinda miss it now, even though i didn't actually use it.

The belt clip and the shim piece have a separation on one side, that allows you to tweak the plastic they are made of enough to get it around the wires.

Well then, that explains it nicely... Thank you.

I just shot ProtoVapor an email, letting them know how much I love the device, and also inquiring further about the battery, to the point of asking if they could possibly send me a picture of an opened up XPV as if you were to replace the battery.

Fingers Crossed!

Man these guys respond fast! Really good customer service over at ProtoVapor!

I asked about the battery, and about the specs on the screws so that I could try to find some black ones, here is their response;

"hey thanks for the kind words. we will be posting up a how to replace battery which will also have pictures. we don't recommend opening it if not necessary, it's not that fun to get it back together as a first-timer.

the screws are m3 threaded, it can take up to an 8-10mm length. the screws we provide came from the manufacturer and are a thinner, smaller countersink head; we have so far been unable to find an exact replacement in black. so typical black m3 screws tend to ride a little higher than the stock screws. they do work though. you can also use button heads or socket heads."

Thanks for posting that info jameth. I'm also impressed with Protovapor's customer service. When I thought it through, my debate between getting a XPV Mini and the Vapor Shark got pretty simple. Now, just have to decide on the mini options -- thinking gray with the dual color option and the standard ego/510 connector.

Thanks for the exploratory lesson Jameth. Not going to take mine apart yet. :?:

Well, after my last post I did not check tracking again. After a long 12hr day pushing 8-900 tons of dirt I come home to find my xpv in the mailbox. :headbang:

Loving the way this device feels in the hand. Very nice. I will have another very soon. I know you guys opted for the clicks button but the smooth button feels good.

They didn't send me a spacer for the clip though.

Can't take pics now. Have to put some groceries down my neck, take a shower then head out to plow snow. :(

Saweet!

Yea, I am kinda debating just getting a second full size XPV and not worrying about a small stealth DNA for now...

Regarding the clip, I asked them about it in the order form, they responded that it was removable if you had a spacer clip that they would include, looking back at my email, they did say it was by request and not default.

Glad to see you got your unit!

I am super pleased with mine, gonna be singing it's praises anywhere I can.

I went into my local B&M today with it, I don't know if they have ever even seen a DNA device before, and didn't really even know what to think about the Fogger I had on it, I think I kinda blew their minds lol.
