The gadget arrived yesterday, kinda looks like a chess piece with the Russian on it.

The screw arrangement was (is) sorta wonky on these units, so that got remedied.

Top side not as important but improved it ... just enough.

The mod works perfectly, controls are nice & easy to use, really like the pocket clip, big 650 battery & micro USB charging ability.
Purchased with the intent of having this as the daily use - take it everywhere, anywhere device.
Hope it's durable cause I'm gonna treat it like a rented mule.

I'd be interested in how you think it compares to that ZNA you've got.

On many levels there's just no comparisom ; the ZNA is a much more highly engineered gadget, build quality at pretty much mil spec standards. It just feels far different that the usual PV. Easy to understand when in-hand. It exudes quality & precise manufacturing.
Had every intention of flipping the thing to essentially pay for the XPV ( crazy eBay prices ) but couldn't bring myself to do it ... I'll use it around the house mostly.
If the ZNA was made of aluminum & had usb charging, I'd buy the 18650 tube for it, a couple of battery's, & live happily ever after with only one device.

In practice ; the XPV offers more ; it's got a big battery that lasts all day & beyond, micro usb charging, it's lighter ( albeit larger ), the pocket clip is actually quite useful. The XPV has a lot going for it to be sure.
It's a very nicely made utility kind of device & better to carry / travel with I believe.
But ...it is what it is ; a nice form factor project box with a full feature set.
It's a very nicely made tool, whereas the ZNA is engineering & manufacturing at an artistic level.
The nice thing about 'em both ; made in the USA. I like it when my money stays in this country.

Thanks C'begone! I'd gotten essentially the same description of the ZNA from another ECF member, but needed the comparison to the XPV from someone who owns both!

I'm still looking forward to receiving my XPV, for sure. But now, instead of going through futile attempts to purchase a ZNA, I'm going to build a couple of my own DNA30 mods.

Custom builds? I'm interested if so
