The one thing that gets me with these devices is that you can't just swap out the battery and replace with a fully charged batt (I know that is been stated ad nauseum). However, if a full charge lasts as long as you all are saying, it would seem to be a non-issue if you can just charge in the, ahem, "off" hours. Sorry for not reading the thread first, but is there any way, or is there anything in development from Protovapor, that would allow you to charge the replacement batteries with the push-in harness externally from the mod? That would be sweet.

I started vaping today at 0723, it's now 1512 and the battery is just a tick below 1/2 full on 15W into 0.9 ohms after 8 hours.
My day is ~100% deskbound other than getting coffee, bathroom breaks, or when the dog takes me for a walk.
So I'm vaping essentially 12 hours before moving to my easy chair in the evening - I work from home mostly.

Also just refilled the R91 which was mostly-ish full last night.
Annoyingly, it's starting to act up and flood out of the blue so I'll have to build another one shortly.

is there anything in development from Protovapor, that would allow you to charge the replacement batteries with the push-in harness externally from the mod? That would be sweet.

I haven't heard any news on them changing it up.
Based on the slim design it would seem difficult to make the battery easily replaceable.
It can be done, but it's not something I'd want to attempt 'in the wild'...

Edit: After more carefully reading your question...
I looked at the spare battery I ordered and don't see why it wouldn't fit into my XTAR charger with the harness attached.
Not sure this would be an approved or safe way to charge it though.
An experienced hobbyist could likely rig up a connector that would work with a rather advanced charger, but YMMV.

Had to switch toppers and ohms, making the test scenario invalid.

Thanks. That Xtar is pretty tight though -- I've had batteries shoot out when trying to put them in because the tension in the spring is so strong. LOL. I think I will send Protovapor an email to see what the deal with this is. It would be nice to know.

As of Sunday evening, my XPV was down to 2 bars on the battery after 16 hours of solid vaping from a full charge !!!

Normally I'd use it longer but we had an 'exciting' weekend with power outages and medical emergencies [think loud sirens in the neighborhood] causing little sleep.
Today being a workday will be the real test... but so far the mod is outstanding.

Stopped by MadVapes this weekend to pickup some odds/ends for a new vaper I'm helping stop smoking, and everyone in the store wanted to see it.

I'm not sure what your asking on the battery. You'd have to remove 8 screws to change it. For me the battery isn't a problem. I started with a full charge at 6am this morning. It's now been 17 hours with a 1.4 ohm coil at 20.7 watts and it still shows about a quarter charge on the battery. I've gone through about a tank and a haft in the KFL.

The reason all Evolve DNA30 mods are designed to not easily change the battery is that there is no reverse battery protection. The less times the battery is changed the less times the chip can be destroyed by accidentally putting the battery in the wrong way. It's that simple. If that's a problem then you probably shouldn't buy a DNA30 device.

House of Hybrids / Zen, Mark Bugs, Hana, NexGen, and VaporShark's new rDNA are examples of commercial DNA mods that have easily replaceable batteries. Heck some of them don't even have built-in chargers so you have no choice but to swap out batteries.

Don't take that the wrong way; I'm not dissing Protovapor for not having an easily changeable battery. I really like built-in chargers. They're VERY handy if you travel because then you don't have to tote around a bulky separate charger, and I think Protovapor's compromise is just fine.

A lot of those are not what lots of people have been referring to as easily replaceable. They have been complaining about having screws instead of magnets. I said what I said based on the complaints I've seen online. Yes they can be replaced but most require at least a screwdriver which based on some complaints they don't seem to feel they are "easily" replaceable.

I also know that a lot of the Cana mods that were termed to be defective were the result of inexperienced people putting the batteries in the wrong way which does not fry the chip, it just causes it to read check atomizer and will not fire.

Have been using a VaporShark for part of last night and this morning.
I must have been a lot more careful before getting the XPV because I've knocked it over at least 1,000 times...
Glad to be back to the XPV now

Edit: Gotta say I'm in love with the power switch implementation on the XPV; so easy to use.

Sadly my Russian 91s are acting up and leaking - one through the ridiculous adjustable centre post.
Have noticed some tiny drops of e-liquid that traversed the 510 connection and out onto the sides of the switch.

Doesn't seem to bother anything and I've been cleaning it off as I go.
If it does not recede over the next day or two I'll break down the mod and give it a good cleaning.

Did you buy the V2.0 with the spring-loaded post?

I've had no issues with my Russian91 v2.1 and the screw-in post.

At least, no leaking issues. It annoys the crap out of me when I wind up turning the block and shorting my mod while attempting to adjust my pin.

Yep, precisely.
I may have over tightened the inner post the screw in one threads into on one of them.

And yes... the post moving is most annoying.
Maybe it's time to tear them down completely and clean them up - they have been in service for almost 3 months.

I bought a replacement battery and the footing set which was around $27 IIRC, but I wrote a note about my old 510 connector being a little wonky and they emailed me within the same day asking if I'd like the upgrade since it would be under warranty.

I paid postal and return postal, plus the $27 for the battery and footing.

It came back with the new battery, clip, and new 510 connector installed. I just had to put the footing on which was a piece of cake.

Solution
Once the coil is built and metered, screw the adjustable pin all the way in.
On modern spring loaded 510 connectors like the XPV has it works just fine that way.

Been using my R91 this way for about an hour and no sign of leakage.
Will update tomorrow with my findings.

It's interesting to see the DNA not be able to buck [step down] the voltage on these bigger batteries.
My VaporShark won't bat an eye at the same ohm coil while the XPV will blink the Ω on a fresh charge...

My un-regulated bottom feeder is wonderful, but darn glad to get back on an Evolv DNA device
