Thanks for the reply. Very helpful. It didn't leak out completely, but a good millilitre for sure.
I am filling it from the bottom port - good?
I am definitely overfilling it - bad?
I wicked it with cotton with tails wrapped a bit around the deck - bad?
I am assuming 3.0-3.5ml in an empty tank and the wicking material just touching the base is the right answer to my issues?
P.s. I am not a newbie when it comes to rebuilding and using RTAs. I have a bunch of them that I use almost daily. My problems so far have stemmed from the amazing amount of conflicting info on the web regarding how to wick and fill a KFL+. You, RB and WillyZ have been more helpful than 99% of the crap on YouTube and other forums/review sites.
Bottom port - GOOD.
Overfill - BAD.
Wick wrapped around deck - Never seen that done.
Wicks just sitting on the deck - GOOD.
Fully saturating wick before assembling tank and filling - BAD (hotly debated point of opinion here, but I feel like the majority of people agree).
You just want to make sure the wick nearest the coil has liquid in it (so it won't burn on your first fire), and a drop or two on each tail will work.
Once you assemble and fill, do a couple non-powered puffs to get the juice flowing to the wick chamber...just like on a Nautilus coil!
Also, make sure that the wick isn't too tight. You want to feel some resistance, if you were trying to pull it out, but not enough that you'd deform the coil.
Play around with your voltage/wattage, because if you're not burning the juice you're pulling in, you'll flood and leak.
Recently, I was humbled and reminded of the fact that you've gotta cook the juice you're pulling to the coil, or you'll gurgle/flood/leak etc.
I bought a Goblin Mini and built it to the design most common in the reviews I watched.
Fired it up, and entered Flood City.
Turns out, this tank is built for higher power than my measly 10W comfort zone.
I wasn't vaping the juice fast enough to keep up with the wicking/juice flow.
So back in the box it goes, until I get my Radius!
I'm not an "expert" or "master"...by any means. I've just been repeating the same builds for so long, that many people have success using what I describe. My tanks flood/gurgle occasionally, and I'd never deny that to anyone...because it is impossible for these tanks to keep a vacuum/pressure differential indefinitely...and to claim otherwise is just an outright lie.
Best example? My KFLs will weep a little bit if I don't vape them every few days. I just make sure to vape each tank every 2-3 days.
